Inappropriate Content Violation

Hello All,

I just wanted to post this as we have decided to make a new Inappropriate Content Violation. Given the recent AdSense violations the site has received, and that lucid is in the process of appealing this violation as well as possibly looking into alternative sources of ad revenue, we need to clean up the site as a whole and strictly enforce their guidelines.

This rule has been rolled out to serve an immediate need as we make through this transition. Mods have been instructed to be lenient in the coming days and weeks as this new rule gains awareness and as the paradigm shift begins. That being said, any community and moderator input on the language of this rule would be greatly appreciated.

We'll be giving out mostly verbal warnings, notes for now (especially to those who are unaware, of course), but moving forward we will start enforcing the violations more strictly.

I'd like to give shout outs to gistofeverything for the language of the ruling, and Giga for drafting up the disciplinary scheme.

  • Posting content to any part of the site that could be considered derogatory, vulgar, or slanderous anywhere on the site, including but not limited to the forums, comments and games. This includes, but is not limited to: swearing, off-site links, and inappropriate images. Inappropriate content that is found on the site will be deleted with or without prior notice. I think this is what lucid wants to do for the remainder of however long Epicmafia will stay up, this is not a temporary solution in the slightest. I will say though that for games in particular, there is no reason to go off the deep handle and report someone for one or two swear words.

Yes, this is meant to be moderated more severely in the forums and on comments.

And yes, swearing isn't the only thing moderated here, but it needs to be cut down on a lot if we want this appeal to go through.

I think lucid would be really happy if everyone just transitioned to this as clean as possible, so if you appreciate everything lucid has done in the past week or so, then at least do it for him, as he's trying very hard to keep the site alive and stable as it is.

Be nice, be considerate, be constructive and definitely be patient. This isn't an easy transition and swearing in particular is a kneejerk reaction for a lot of people. I'm hoping we can all pull together as a community to make the site better.

Glad to see these changes to be honest; a lot of people who like to use homophobic and other derogatory swears are gonna be gone. :>

It'll be reviewed case by case, at the very least it'll get switched from one vio to the other if it fits more under this rule than that, yes.

Well my dear friend, here is a direct quote from lucid:

"anything you don't want a 10 year old to see, censor it". So this is going to be pretty strictly enforced.

I will say I don't expect people to get violations for simply cursing a few times in a game. This is much more serious for forums in comments as those are on the site forever and are much more easily found with search engines.

Review the rules in the link of what's allowed and what isn't and we'll take it from there. This is still under construction, but the point is that we need to enforce stricter guidelines, unfortunately.
