Pandora
  • Sided with the mafia.
  • Once a game, at night, gives someone a box.
  • Person who receives box must open the box within two days, or it will open by itself by the end of the second day.
  • If you open the box, the person selected will be either killed, a famine will plague the village, or it will instantly go to night. (No lynching.)
  • Pandora's night action goes through first, so if she is killed at night, the box is still passed.
  • If the box-holder dies, the box is sent back to Pandora.
  • If Pandora were to die, the box would be lost.
  • Thief can steal the box from players, but not Pandora.
  • Wins if mafia outnumber villagers.

Just adding on (use these as you want)
-Thief can steal the box at night, since it cant get passed on.
-When the box is passed, there is no system message. it just appears on the recieving player's sidebar.
- when the box is opened, all chatbox text changes to a random color to signal this change, keeping true to the real pandora's box.
- if pandora is killed, the box remains as what it was when she was killed (ie if the box was set to give a vest, and pandora dies, then the box will always be set to give a vest). Pandora does her night action first (ie she will change the box, then get shot)

I would think that Pandora chooses the item in the box as well, so that they can make a vest, crystal, gun, bread, etc. Just adding to this to help make it legitimate,
-Pandora MUST pass the box on, and cannot give it to herself
-The box can only be passed on at night, at which time Pandora picks a new action for the box.
-Box can only be opened during the day (to prevent random deaths/confusion at night)
- Once the box is opened, Pandora gets a new box a full day/night later and repeats the cycle. Prevents them from giving it, forcing someone to open it, and then remaining clear for the game. Also, Pandora cant give the box to someone twice (such as a protected PR)
- Wins if alive, or the box remains unopened at the endgame in the hands of a living person.
Im sure you'd have to add in a condition that the box cant be held for more than x days, but hey. you could also make it more like the anarchist's bomb, in which it opens at a random time, but that just adds to chaos, really.

Why isnt this made yet ? and pandora's hair color in mythology was either brown and curly or red and curly :]
over 14 years
Well, it means Pandora can't open the box. If she does, she loses. It isn't saying that if anyone opens it she loses.

I still finding the rules hard to understand. How can you win if you MUST open the box?

Your rules are all over the place.

Well, thematically its hard to remove the randomness for obvious reasons, right? However, one way to keep it "random" for the one who will open it, is to make it so the Pandora-role can actually choose what will be inside the box each night/day. Although, by taking away the randomness some heavy revamping of the role would have to be done (Win-condition, Box-sending mechanics, alignment? etc). For instance, if the win condition will stay the same, then there would be a need to make it so that there is strategic value in putting an item in the box, or else the Pandora would just make it so opening the box kills/reveals you all the time, resulting in no one opening it. In any case, there are many ways to make a role's ability appear "random" although it's not.

Oh. Sorry. Any ways to take out randomness that you can think of?

@Hyperro, You misunderstood me, I'm not bashing it because of its win-condition. I'm bashing it because of its fundamental mechanics, namely: Randomness.

Darwin, Pandora's win doesn't affect town/mafia. It's like angel. It wins on its own. Not like monk, where if it wins, no one else does.

Ok, I'm going to give you my personal opinion:
This role sucks incredible hard balls - I hate roles with random abilites because of how they essentially can make or break a game based on pure luck.

Now, I'm not bashing you, only the role itself, so don't take it personally, ok?
