I think people should see the torch in the darkness. Maybe everyone is anonymous except for him. This makes people stop spamming "MAF HERE" or something in chat.

I can't see this working unless the mafia knew who the torchbearer was in the dark. Otherwise they do not stand a chance.

I like this idea very much. Only thing I would change is to make Torchbearer start out with the torch item himself and give the torch item the ability to be passed to another player at night. This both allows thief to steal the torch right away, and also allows other players who end up with the torch to pass it away later if they want to and removes the clunkyness of Torchbearer having to convert himself, etc.

Probably so. Seems to count as an item. That would mean thief can steal it.

If the torch was passed, does the person who has the torch keep it for the rest of the game?

This is my favorite role so far. There is a good counter to the torchbearer that I saw, I think it was called the fiddler?

Mortician without jan/no reveal, etc.

Agent without spy, etc etc.

Hell, Godfather, Lawyer, and Framer are all useless without cops in the game.

Xavier, that logic also applies to the Shrink. Shrink is useless without a conversion role.
Same goes for Agent. Useless to have an Agent without a Spy. Paranoid/Naive cops are useless without a regular cop, etc etc.
