some usernames are virtually indistinguishable from one another because of the appearance of a capitalized "i" or lowercase "L".
unless i'm mistaken or this has already been proposed, this is probably the simplest fix to implement out of all the updates the website's received since its inception. if done correctly, staff no longer has to worry (as much) about enforcing an anti-impersonation rule, and users can rest easy knowing that their personal anime brands won't be infringed on.
this would not mean replacing the site's current fonts, but rather adding more options for users to choose from
you can choose to keep the default font if you wish
users with different font settings will be able to tell if you are using a substitute letter for your username (i.e. "i" and "L" interchangeably)
This is a really good idea, sometimes someone's font is too light and I can't see what they're saying
I also agree with the larger font thing. Making the site easier to play for everyone means increasing the player pool. I think we're long overdue for an "Accessibility" tab in settings.
the pro: you can set your font preference to the current one the con: people with different font preferences will likely be able to tell that your username is inauthentic
this is about overall utility and legibility. the issue directly impacts the voting dropdown in games as well. why offer a punitive non-solution when we have a perfectly sound preventative solution?
it takes two seconds to ban an impersonation account and this would completely ruin lots of ppls usernames that intentionally used the uppercase i cos it was taken or something
