this entire system is built around steph, durant playing like the best player in the world doesn't diminish what steph has been doing the last couple years, there's a reason nba coaches breath a sigh of relief when steph goes to the bench but not durant, their entire game plan revolves around stopping him. go and watch the fourth quarter from yesterdays game and notice how many times curry and draymond pick and roll produced points on wide open shots. i think 8 out of 9 or 10 possessions using the PnR they scored a bucket, the one miss being a wide open looney dunk. This team went 73-9 spamming that PnR because Steph is THAT lethal when you give him air space, so they double him and let draymond get a running start in a 4v3. Once Durant went down he dropped 16 points in game 5 on 5-9 shooting with two huge threes in the fourth, and in game 6 he dropped 33 in the second half with clutch shot after clutch shot. Yall still wanna clown him at this point then you're always going to hate the man and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. Appreciate greatness
Imagine not being the best player on your own team and still being top 5 point guards of all time. Are we straight up ignoring that Durant has a real case to say he's the best player in the whole league right now and is definetly one of the greatest players to have ever lived? It's like saying Kobe wasn't that great in '01 cause Shaq was the best player on that team.
33 points in the second half on 9-15 shooting, 23 points in the fourth quarter (his most in a fourth quarter in his career), 8-8 on clutch free throws, rockets trapped him all quarter long and he found draymond every time (passing out of traps/double teams is a genuine skill that dame worked on this off season, curry ain't get enough credit for that). He's now hit 75 or 76 straight free throws in the fourth quarter or overtime, last miss being in 2015. Those two huge threes with under 3 minutes to go? ? ? ? ? ?? and yall really still clowning my man steph?
