Lucid has decided to automate tokens going out to the top 3 runners, meaning that there will indeed be token rewards for every round starting now. For anybody who missed the previous announcements, the amount of tokens for the top 3 are 20, 10 and 5.
To be fair, Almost all of those setups have the chance to last ~5 minutes in certain scenarios. Of course those scenarios are extremely rare, but it's still possible nonetheless. So looking into the average of the time for Sheriff setup based on a singular round would definitely help in appealing that the setup isn't comp worthy.
Conversely, the point I was presenting above was that a lot of fun, unique, and newer setups get completely blindsided in competitive rounds by the same couple of setups, and the 3-round suspension for setups after being picked doesn't really do much given how we're fallen into a rotation of once something is off that suspension, immediately put it back up for the next possible round.
If that problem were to be fixed, I'm figuring it would also indirectly fix the issue of setups like the Sheriff Hipfire one being comped and played so much by users.
I don’t think most setups have this issue, jan, vdli, ddp, fj and most setups do last for a good 30 minutes and exactly my point is hell yeah. I have all my hearts left cause I don’t even want to stoop to that level.Hopefully, people will start playing other setups
well if a comp setup is meant to last 20-30 minutes per game then there's the problem. the setups comped are not up to par for comp, plain and straight.
sure we can have fast games if town/mafia fks up but then we have HELL YEAH D1 HIPFIRE on GnH Plus blacksmith
I agree with the latter but some of the setups are overly played when the other comped ones are too boring. However a comp setup shouldn’t end in 3 minutes and hellyeah ends within 3 minutes on 90% of village losses due to an idiot being sheriff and then the reports are flooded with hipfire accusations which are non vioble due since its not a “hipfire” if you wait the 2 minutes.
I think the instances of a setup being overly played due to the other ones being too boring aren't as common as the scenario I based my idea around. Even then, if it happens, let's say, once every 10 rounds, then I still think it'd be fine to go ahead with my idea.
The main thought process is to establish more diveristy in rounds, so that we stop going through a cycle of Sheriff Setup -> Jan 2.0 -> VDIL -> repeat. It's obvious that trusting the userbase to diversify themselves won't happen naturally, so pushing for it with more regulations on which setups can be comped and how long of a wait period there are between rounds for them, will help in pushing for that diversity that a lot of users ask for.
Fair
And take, a comp setup is meant to last for 20-30 minutes.
If setups are banned we won’t have this problem tho
I guess if we evaluate the average time a game lasted once the round ends we will have solid evidence that hellyeah would have an average of 5 minutes at most.

Here's an idea. If a setup gets played an overwhelming majority amount as compared to other ones during a comp round, it can't be picked again for double the normal amount. (So 6 rounds.) This allowes for more diversity in comp rounds so setups like Hell Yeah and Jan 2.0 don't dominate every other round.
Edit: Also if a setup gets under, let's say, 10 plays during a round, can it not be subjected to the 3-round ban.
