Hello everyone! I would like to ask the people who are interested in this event to participate and contribute as much as possible.
In order for 2 new roles to be added to em, the community has to work together to refine the ideas that are going to be mentioned below. We have to collectively select 2 of the best ideas and make sure their version is the best one possible. The next step would be to come up with some sort of artwork for the selected roles. Lucid mentioned something about rewarding the users behind the artwork that would get selected in the end for those 2 roles.
Jack the Ripper (originally Hypocrite)
Jack the Ripper hates anyone who kills.
Jack the Ripper only wins when the game ends and all murderers are dead.
If Jack the Ripper receives a gun or knife and kills someone with it, he will not consider himself a murderer.
To Jack the Ripper, murderers are killing roles or any other player that has successfully eliminated someone else (shot, stabbed, blown up, etc.)
If a player survives one of these actions, Jack the Ripper will not consider the attacker a murderer.
(~Jennings)
Cat Lady
Chooses one player every night. The player is instantly alerted that a cat is at their door. They have two options: Kill the cat, and let it go. If you kill the cat, you are roleblocked and the Cat Lady doesn't know who was visited. If you let it go, the Cat Lady learns your role.
Sided with the mafia. (~Her)
Robinhood
Visits two people, taking all items from the first and giving them to the second (cannot visit self either way)
Action fails if trying to steal from a mafia
Sided with the village (~Torreador)
Vice President
If the president dies, takes their place
All townies immediately receive a message of their new president
Attends mafia meetings, and makes them anonymous
Cannot win if they are the vice president (~Alyssa)
Gossiper
Chooses one person every night.
Will see some whispers this person receives/makes.
If lynched at the end of the game, the last mafia can guess who the Seer is for autowin.
If the Seer dies, they will appear as a random (non-mafia) role in the setup and their will will always be blank. If dead, the mafia can still attempt a guess to the Seer's identity at the end of the game.
If there are multiple Seers in a game, only one Seer will know the mafia at any given time.
If there are two mafias and multiple Seers, the knowledge of the mafias will be split between them.
Sided with the village. (~Shwartz99)
Whistleblower
Once per game can force someone to vote someone else. Vote cannot be OT'D if it is a hammer. Sided with maf
(Will create more tension in selfing/hammering based setups (~Moldyches)
Soldier
If they are the last man standing against a single mafia or third party, the village wins.
Sided with the village. (~XFire)
PowerTown
Each night chooses a power role from the options provided to him. (the mods should determine the list)
Night meeting goes accordingly
Sided with the village
PowerMafia
Each night chooses a mafia role from the list.
Night meeting goes accordingly
Sided with the mafia
What is your favorite role mentioned in this thread?
Let me give an example of a "Meteor Replacement" role so people can get an idea of what I mean.
Shoggoth: 1. While in play, cult may choose to attempt to resurrect Shoggoth instead of recruiting more cult members 2. Needs at least two cult for cult to make this decision 3. If resurrected two nights, Shoggoth joins the living 4. After leaving the graveyard, Shoggoth may strongman kill two players at night, but, has no idea who is cult 5. Only priest or samurai may banish Shoggoth upon Shoggoth attempting to kill them 6. Wins with cult
I have a new breed of role now that the underworld is out. I call these roles "meteor replacement" roles. Here is how they work.
The role is designed to end the game after a certain number of days no matter what without the meteors involvement, but, only if the role is in the setup.
The role begins in the graveyard and rises from the graveyard after about two or three nights depending on the nature of the role.
The role might or might not be resurrected before then.
This role can't be voted by village during the day, but, may be voted by mafia, depending on its special nature.
The role will have a game ending power such as forced famine even with the baker still alive, or the ability to kill two people.
The role can be sided with village, third, or mafia, but, won't be counted as living even after leaving the graveyard and can only be banished under a special condition such as visiting the priest, having a target killed the same night by mafia, and things of that nature.
Waitress: •If a person that would give an item die at night, she delivers the item on the original giver place. •Once she dies a random item is given to a player. •Sided with the village.
Photographer: •Once per game, she can take a photo of someone who is alive. •If a player that she took a photo of changes their role she will get a report saying their name and what is the role. •Sided with village.
Heiress: (credit to tinynanami) •At night, may choose one dead player to inherit all their items. •Sided with village.
We already have a living zone, a graveyard zone, an underworld zone. We can add an outside zone
Think about it. Irl. There could be new people who join the village after days the killing have started. So roles from outside zone is not in the game until something happens. Those roles move from outside zone to the alive zone when an event triggers it
For example:
Pig: -Townsided -Stay outside of the game until famine happens -If lynched, everyone receives 3 breads
Dammed - Once per game, can make a deal with the devil - Appears as Dammed until the deal with the devil is made - When the deal is made, the Dammed receives two names, one of which is mafia and the other is not - Dammed will be killed at the end of the day that they receive the report - Sided with the village
I think an idea that could work since of the new underworld mechanic would be like
Death - Starts out in the graveyard - Can not be revived to the regular village - Chooses a player in the graveyard to play a mini game with (like Gambler) to decide whether or not the person gets sent to the underworld - Third Party
maybe I should run some data analysis on all suggested roles and see what the distribution of male / female / neutral for all sides are, see if there's an underlying gender bias
can we have roles that are like cat or dog like tree? also lucid why are all of the roles with ‘king’ in their name village while all the ones with ‘queen’ are mafia?
