Honestly, in all seriousness, I agree that actually committing suicide has as much planning as the stupid other examples used above, like acting on pedophilic tendencies.
The major difference is that one is a real, harmful crime against other people, and the other one is a real, harmful act upon oneself
It all comes down to the question if people should have autonomy over their own bodies when not in their right mind (i.e wanting to kill themselves)
If u are actually getting emotionally upset with this discussion we can end it btw cus at the moment I don’t reallt see progress being made and I think the next left lands us over a cliff
a bunch of people have been through this thread and the previous one and have pointed out that suicidal tendencies come at a moment when you don't feel like you have any other option
you are literally prevented from seeing the existence of any other option by your mental illness
that is not the case with the examples you're using because there are extensive trails of thought and planning that go into those events and which we know about
