Since when is telling people to kill themselves not an instant ban. I remember when i was a mod, if somebody told someone else to kill themselves and it wasn't a joke (not that it's a good thing to even joke about) it was an instant ban. Pretty sure Lucid made that clear to us when we were mods. Now when i reported somebody for it, they just get a warning? When did this change?
If it did change, it needs to be changed back to an instant ban.

JUST NEEDED TO VENT BECAUSE OF ALL THE egocentric, self diagnosing people that call themselves depressed and delude themselves into thinking that no one else can COMPREHEND what depression or suicide is... xd !

Also the fact that the EM community already shames people that do nothing wrong, and has no accountability.
I don't see how basing punishment on self esteem is a good idea :D
The mod team operates with very limited liability, but at least their corruption is transparent; we can see all the reasoning behind vios and what not, even if it changes day to day.
Last of all... While yeah you can become a big boy and realise telling people to kill themselves isnt that normal. But at the same time, you have to realise that saying "kys" after someone mishammers, and saying "go kill yourself you f-wit" are two very different things. :)
Personally, I think that people on this website can experience far worse than a "kys". If telling someone "kys" is going to tip them over the proverbial edge, then they would have already been tipped over by the rest of the table calling them and horrible and acting like theyre a useless town-hammering idiot. Frankly I don't think theres any realistic situation where "kys" is going to tip anyone over the edge, unless they already are over the edge and in that case we might as well ban any form of aggressive language, just in case.
If you can get the extremely divided community to agree about issues regarding Harassment or HC you would be the first person to ever accomplish it

What happened to the good ol' fashion shame system? Why must everything be a vio? Can't we just go back to if someone does something the community deems unacceptable they receive enough hate for it that they stop?
Answer this: What do you think will get the message through and improve the site in whole better? 1. A little box with a bunch of timers followed by the word harassment. Or 2. The entire community as a whole saying that something isn't accepted and will not be accepted?
I personally think that 2 will always do more than any violation for an action or ban.
amazingly there's actually a point in your life where you stop being a big boy and become an adult and telling people to kill themselves isn't really that normal
if u literally kill yourself because someone said "kys" to you once on a video game, im not going to shed a tear for u because all u did was remove ur weak genes from the pool
people go through much worse on the daily and im sure that those who are actually struggling enough to have suicidal thoughts irl don't care enough about what internet strangers have to say about them.
But maybe that's just me.
Either way "lol kys" or "haha kill urself" as a casual remark is a big difference from actually attempting to pressure someone into committing suicide.
and do you know what? people go through sh!t and sometimes all it takes is a "kys" comment to push them over the edge.
Kys is not an auto vio. Imo definitely not a nice thing to say casual or not but out of frustration sometimes things slip out. I've always instructed my mods to take into account context and vio it under harassment if asked to stop or excessive to a point where we'd consider it bullying and will remind them of this.

If you're literally going to kill yourself because a total internet stranger said "kys" I'm pretty sure you're already well past it.
I like how you don't know what goes through the heads of suicidal people, low key admitting it at the end, and assume it's fact worthy enough to present in a argument.
When did I say I don't know what goes through the heads of suicidal people? why are you making assumptions about my fkin life? rofl gtfo.
If you think my life has been sunshines and rainbows you are dead wrong. 'Maybe thats just me' means maybe my upbringing just taught me to be a stronger person than you? Trying to emphathize with u weenies but ur making it real hard fam
