Since when is telling people to kill themselves not an instant ban. I remember when i was a mod, if somebody told someone else to kill themselves and it wasn't a joke (not that it's a good thing to even joke about) it was an instant ban. Pretty sure Lucid made that clear to us when we were mods. Now when i reported somebody for it, they just get a warning? When did this change?
If it did change, it needs to be changed back to an instant ban.

i guess because people won't kill themselves after being told "kill yourself", that means it's an A OK thing to say and we should all say it any time we face an inconvenience in the game of mafia
"kys" is not as serious as u are making it seem. "f@ggot/n*gger" and all those are a lot more severe than telling someone to kys & even those shouldn't be auto vios tbh.
what shrek is trying to get across is that saying KYS is not that serious.... no one will actually kill themselves from hearing some stranger online saying it no matter what strawman argument you try to bring forth
maybe instead of going out of your way to say reductive and derisive things to someone when you're mad, maybe take a break from a website that you visit in leisure time that is intended for leisure.
Moreover, people around the globe live in different circumstances, therefore people kill themselves for different reasons. Culture, society, and geography play a role in this enigma as well and ignoring their roles would be an ignorant thing to do in my opinion
I strongly disagree with my boy SHERK on this one. Suicidal people are not weak. Also we never know what people are going through, it isn't very nice to say that if someone kills themselves over being told "kys" that you don't care about them. I think that is a rather sour viewpoint personally.
However, it almost never happens that the only reason someone kills themselves is because someone on the internet told them "kys". I don't understand why that's even being talked about because that is never the only reason people kill themselves, it is usually because of many variables which have combined into a feeling which the person feels like they cannot escape, or that they are in so much pain from it that they believe the only way out is to take their own life. Someone telling another person "kys" could be close to a breaking point for some people going through a lot of this type of pain, but almost never is, so I'm not sure why that discussion is even being had
I didn't say your problems don't matter. I said at least you can cure your depression if you just identified the root of the problem and looked for ways to fix it. Just by living in Canada, you will never be locked into a disfavourable position for the rest of your life, as long as you're constantly working to get yourself out.
A frame of reference is important when considering why you might be depressed. To quote one of my favourite songs, it's a fundamental mistake to search for happiness; Happiness is something you are, and it comes from within.
Speaking from my own experiences and from what I've seen, my perspective is that we are all often so caught up with what we don't have that we forget to take the time to be appreciative of what we do.
Maybe, everyone's situation is different, but I think the mainstream glorification of suicide is equally detrimental.
My point was simply to state that the problems that drive people to commit suicide in developed countries are solveable - they usually just require money, time, a change of environment, or a mix of the three. Just by living in these countries grants you the opportunity to determine the course of your life by simply making the correct decisions. This is something that people often forget. People in many other parts of the world are often locked into sh*tty circumstances from birth and regardless of how hard they may try, there's nothing they can do about it. Even in developed countries like South Korea, people are killing themselves on the daily, because regardless of how hard they work/educate themselves, they can still find themselves in situations where it's impossible to financially provide for their families
A big problem that I feel like is causing our society to slowly decay is externalizing our problems and responsibilities onto others. Sure, it is important to provide the necessary resources and support for others going through tough times, but this isn't mandatory and should never be seen as so. It is primarily THOSE peoples' responsibility to find the right people and places to acquire the help they need.

jesus christ imagine saying "your problems don't matter because they aren't as big as poverty or sex trafficking" this is the most f/cking ignorant thing i've ever read in my life
wish i could tell my depression "hey people in africa are starving and i'm not so can you just go away? thanks"
Shïtty people have always kept well-intentioned good people out of places and things that could be fun and great if the shïtty people weren't there, but nonetheless the shïtty people exist so we just kinda cut our losses and move away.
