The moderators are forbidding me from comping Classic Mafia (along with other variants such as Fancy Pants) because it is "uncompetitive". While it's on the mods to provide proof that it's uncompetitive, they have not done so, so I would like to start a poll and debate on whether or not this setup is comp worthy.
My vote is "yes". There is a huge skill gap in Classic Mafia. Some Classic players have 40% winrate, while some have 60% or more. You can't say that is all just luck, there is meta mindgames and scumhunting involved, and good report faking is a must.
Saying that to classic mafia is like saying this to Janitorial 2.0
Kill this person
I guilty this guy so he must be mafia
town bw
Lynches blue, not miller
Kill this person
Lynches fake cop who guilty blue
Kill this person
This guy must be town because he's inno and this guy must be law because he's guilty
Lynches miller
Lose.
Only difference is that mine is longer just because jan 2.0 has a ML
Also, in your situation, your game would either A. have been filled with noobs who sheep guilty or B. have been a CC where town SRed both of the town because the mafia played amazingly.
Having actually played classic more than I should and making strats for it, a good town tends to SR the cop with 2 guilties just because it's very unlikely. So simply guiltying 2 people tends to be not worth the risk of missing cop.
Also, I should note, I don't want classic on comp as one of the set ups that gets comped immediately when it can be. I just want it to be a set up to be thrown in once in a while to mix things up.
But I believe that being good in Classic relies more on pure scumhunting than any strategy. And I see most good players on this website, me included but after I noticed it, I tried to fix it, are bad at just pure scumhunting. To the point where noobs can just easily read you off of it because of classic's lack of complexity throws us off guard.
Kill this person.
NL. NL. quiet NL.
*soft vote*
Kill this person.
I softed them D1 see, they're guilty and i'm cop and this is my second guilty.
Team Deathmatch is the OG FPS game mode, I don’t think people line up outside of Game Battles matches to watch a good ol’ competitive match of team deathmatch
Since when was epicmafia a game commonly observed by spectators? I guess they really enjoy those noob comp games?

i also found it funny bc you literally quoted him so if i were you i'd own it as a god tier pun
i've also been exposed for being dumber than fu/ck
Mods aren’t allowing it to be comped simply cus it’s not a competitive setup, shut the hell up lol
How it is not competitive? I can understand if you're going to say a set up like reverse mafia is not competitive, for the fact that it's encouraging to not talk and nl to avoid getting read as your role unless your traitor.
But classic, you STILL have to scumhunt. Any set up with scumhunting can be competitive. I get BSM's point that there is a lack of creativity, therefor a lack of strategy, therefor a lack of skill and complexity.

I believe that classic relies, not on strategy, but more so on instinct. I understand that a bad table on classic will make the game bad, but that's literally every set up. But every set up suffers that worse, it's just classic get's filled more often by newer players due to it's reputation.
I feel that adding classic to comp will be a refreshing take and will mix up the set ups a lot better.
Probably wasted time making this post because, even though it had excellent points, no one will bother to argue against them or agree with them unless they already agreed with them. I've already done this one too many times. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s been that way for years and it’ll continue to be that way. They allowed it the one round as a troll and then disallowed it again- if y’all wanna have a fun round once in a while that’s a better argument the trying to argue that is a setup worthy of comp regardless how many players still play

Hi jeff and Lacey, it’s been a while how are you two?
PLEASE MAN EXPLAIN TO US WHY CLASSIC ISN'T ALLOWED WHEN EVERYONE WANTS IT
No mods ever explains any action done, outside of blacksnakemoan funny enough, should've just directly asked him.
It's just too one dimensional. It's not a scumhunting setup like Cry'n'Spy, because there's a cop. So people use the cop as a crutch to carry them through.
The only mafia play is to CC cop, or not cc cop. If they hit blue and don't cc cop, it's p much town auto. If they do CC cop it becomes a coin flip bc no one talks in that setup and people rely on stupid meta like "that person typed inno before the name!"
If it was 10 people it'd be a lot better tbh, but as it is now, it's far too simple a game.
idk why yall having a debate the answers just no lol
The reason why it's not comped is, the moderators simply not wanting it comped for their own bias reasonings. Regardless of what the actual website wants, they'll just force what they want on the users of the websites. What I explained solves a lot of questions EM users seem to have at time.
I could easily make arguments why it should or shouldn't be comped, but what's the point. Mods don't want it, and just like with many other issues on this site, they don't care what we think.
