Time to Shine

Hello everyone, we are excited to announce Time to Shine has arrived.

What is it? (You may wonder)

It is a singing competition, very similar to the previous singing contest “Epic Mafia Idol”. 12 participants will be chosen based on their audition to compete for a sweet prize.

Participants will have to submit one song every round, must match the round theme, but there are no eliminations after every round!

As for the voting

In this contest the public will vote on their favorite performance of the current round to determine the round winner. Judges can give only one point each!

Interested in joining? You can read all the rules of the contest in the link below.

Click here also you can see the prizes

instead of just singing we should make a EPICMAFIA GOT TALENT where any talent could participate (sing, dance, draw, juggling, whatever)

But then can still happen after round 1 or 2 so it will end up the same.. Imagine the idols people also dont know the contestants but will later on choose someone to support

Well that depends, if you reveal which player sang which song upon each round then yes the voters will learn what each contestant's voice sounds like and the mystery will be gone. But if you don't do that after each round, and instead only reveal who the losers were then the anonymity continues up until the final round when the winners are announced.

Well that's why we also have the extra judge points to try to avoid it much of it!
It's hard to come with a perfect system of voting tbh, if it's only judges can happen favoritism but same with audience... so it is very hard

I think an anonymous system solves that doesn't it? I mean, sure, there might be someone who will tell all of their friend what their code number in the competition is so they can go vote for him/her, but that's so, so extremely lame? And (or so I'd like to think) completely beneath the people that participate in singing competitions.[/quote]But then can still happen after round 1 or 2 so it will end up the same.. Ah what the hell, I'm in. Only if I'm allowed to submit unfitting songs whenever there's a terrible theme even if I won't get points for them.

From my experience people want to showcase their talent and many post in the forum directly therefore revealing themselves. We have also had people who competed "anonymously" by submitting under an alt. It doesn't make sense to have some anon some not idk

That is why the solution is to require everyone to submit via PM. When people upload their songs in a comment, I only really click to listen to the songs of a select few people I like. This premature hearing results in me remembering the song when I'm listening to all the songs and is sure to impact my judggement. Alternatively, if you're a person who doesn't listen to all of the songs when the time comes to vote but just 2-3, someone who posts their song in the comments has better chances of getting points than someone who sent in their song via PM, which is really unfair. Requiring everyone to comment their song submissions solves nothing as then things like your time zone, time of submission, etc. all factor in how many people review your song prior to voting and are swayed to vote it more favorably.

The whole contest is based on public voting apart from the selection phase. So ye we need the public vote on the rounds lol

I think the issue they were going for is people voting for the names and not the singing?

Can anyone explain to me why submission of songs has to be public? As in, what are the benefits that come with the public knowing who is singing what song?

Oh no I absolutely agree that voting should be public. I'm just asking whether the submissions will be anonymous? For example let's say it's Round 2 and I'm participating with "La vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf. Will people know it's me who's singing or will it be like "Contestant No. 6" or something?

They will know its you, mostly cuz tbh I didnt even thought on putting names anonymous lol I guess thats the reason

Oh ok. Please do think about it next time

how do i submit a song to be considered also if chosen would i really have to sing kpop because if i do im not joining

Its explained on the rules "Please send your submission through a pm to a judge or host, you can also post your entry on the contest thread."

Also if you do pass the auditions round and the public chooses kpop as a round theme, you should do it. If you dont want to you won't earn any points that round and just have to recover on the following rounds
