Can't say I disagree with you. It's just tough being nice to new players that aren't likely to be toss accounts. Competitive games really are the only ones worth playing and it's definitely frustrating with such a small playerbase that you're almost guaranteed to play with baboon who's being experimented on in a laboratory somewhere.
It'd probably be easier if the community were more knit together but meh, just a fantasy right
If they're likely to be toss accounts then I check if they are or not and if they are then I don't go out of my way to explain stuff to them/be outwardly nice, but yeah small userbase makes this difficult.
But I'd wager it's small at least partially because of all the day to day petty garbage that occurs here in and out of game.

I have been ranting for a while now, but I always try to be nice to newer players so they too can experience these fun moments of mafia and not dread them in fear of people yelling/swearing at them, and also so that they don't become apathetic and act juvenile/immature like some of the other poisonous users who, through their actions, cause other users in turn to become the same way. I think people here generally need to be kinder to newer players.
But it is also fair to mention that the concept or notion/idea of "fun" is different for everyone. I used to dread moments when I have a hard decision to make in a game as a clear, or with reads, or as mafia or something. I would never want them. I'd guess that almost everybody dreads these types of moments too.
Today, those are hands down my absolute favourite moments that I hope for in games. Those are the moments when I am being challenged and am having the most fun. I love moments like those and enjoy them because they are so much fun when people in the game are all working hard and the decision that I need to make is difficult because everybody is putting in effort. That is mafia at its core, and I love spots like that since they're exactly why I love this game so much. Even if others don't like those types of moments because of fear of being wrong/pressure, once you stop worrying about those petty things and just have fun giving your all, I think it's what makes the game of mafia so different and unique from many other games.
When people ruin these moments by grudging, not caring, not efforting (possibly out of spite or grudge towards another user), or just being plain stupid, etc., that is when I get upset and these are the types of players I hate playing with. I wish players like this would stop playing entirely to be honest and get out so the rest of us can have fun while they go be childish and immature somewhere else so we can enjoy our GAME. And that's what it is, a game. So to act like that in a GAME really shows how juvenile some people here can really be.
