Eh. Our vote will probably increase in London, and maybe in the North. But we're getting obliterated in the Midlands and whilst we're actually doing better in the South than we have done for a generation+, this is the Tory heartland and it takes a miraculous swing to get a Southern seat to go from CON to LAB. We'll lose far more than we gain.
In Scotland the Conservatives have far surpassed as the second party behind the SNP, so even though the SNP are likely to lose a few seats (given they have 56 of the 59 up there it's almost impossible for them not to), we only have two realistic target seats in all of Scotland: East Renfrewshire and Edinburgh North. And we're heavily on the defence in Wales against the Tory surge, too. There's no Lib Dem seats to eat (though I think Orkney might fall and maybe one or two other Lib Dem seats, but again, not to us).
On the bright side, with Brexit achieved and May going full on Hard Brexit, UKIP have plunged in the polls and are going to be a corpse at the end of this election as their reason to exist... Doesn't exist anymore. The downside of that is that CON + UKIP got about 50% of the vote between them last election - and with the 'Kippers mostly going back to the Conservatives, that's where all these May votes are coming from. It'll take a miracle on our end and some utterly incompetent campaigning on the Tory end for this to end in anything other than a Tory landslide to rival Blair in 1997.
im pretty sure labour have a chance bro. a lot of people hate teresa (and she reminds everyone of maggy thatcher) and who are they gonna vote? lib dem? lol.
Time to roll out the campaign material again. Sadly I had to turn down the opportunity to stand for election as I'm on holiday during the election itself. Oh well, looking forward to getting utterly slaughtered.
There are many things that I disagree with Corbyn on though. To name a couple, I don't think that the voting age should be lowered as most 16 year olds really don't have a concrete idea of how the country should be run or how politics works and leaves them open to indoctrination by political parties to obtain easy young votes. I don't think the government should raise the minimum wage, as that just drives up prices in an endless cycle that's really quite pointless (I'm also not left-wing).
But yeah in their manifesto they talk about protecting green spaces by opposing things like excessive housing development and HS2 and Farage has spoken about this before. Farage has also talked about gay rights, but I'm not sure what Nuttall's stance on it is. Like I said, I'm much more pro-Farage than I am pro-Nuttall. I don't think he's a good head of the party which is why my vote isn't entirely secure with them because he seems to be making a lot of changes that I'm not sure if I like.
(also a part of me thinks im being trolled - i havent read up on UKIPs policies at all)
am i being trolled or are they policies you like, rather than what ukip has? i cant find anything suggesting they support gay rights, environmental regulations etc lol
it's good to see you've thought about what you want from a government! if you want some perspective into labour i can type off the top of my head some basic info
corybyn supports democracy and thus will support leaving the EU without going hard-brexit style like may. he's got leading economists backing his proposals too.
no idea if he's for a proportional representation voting system, but considering he's a leftie, chances are he hates the current voting system even if it's not in his policies. (goddammit britain, pls change the system!)
all the stuff you've put after that corbyn is basically your man.
The most obvious one would be the decision to leave the European Union, I don't think any other party will do as good a job as UKIP at transitioning, especially since Theresa May is a closet remainer. I also agree with things like the UK switching to a proportional representation voting system, not allowing the government to monitor phone calls and emails, increasing environmental regulations on businesses to reduce carbon emissions, raising taxes on the rich, legalisation of same-sex marriage, gay couples having the same adoption rights as straight couples, prosecuting people who avoid paying taxes by moving their money in offshore bank accounts, etc etc
UKIP are a party that I generally agree with anyway, but I don't think Paul Nuttall would really be that good of a PM, whereas Farage would. My vote in the poll is only on UKIP because that's where I would vote. But at the moment I'm still not entirely sure if I will.
