summer wars is rly fantastic
it'd be redundant for me to recommend a ghibli movie at this point but princess mononoke is the best

I've only watched 2 anime movies, both made me question what the hell I'm doing with my life:
* The End of Evangelion
* Grave of the Fireflies
Since then I've become a monk and have abstained from watching anime movies.
EDIT: Of course I'm lying about just watching two movies, but yeah. Those two completely destroyed my sanity and my soul. But, I would really recommend any of the Studio Ghibli movies, where Princess Mononoke is my fav.
im personally not a fan of romance movies but i found the plot and characters very sterotypical and the whole thing was really overhyped. it was nothing special to me and was actually pretty boring upon review. there are millions of movies just like it that get across the same messages in a more interesting way. good art tho

Grave of the Fireflies, Barefoot Gen, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Totoro come to mind.. also check out the Iron Giant (though its not anime)
