never serious [...] it's about making smart claims
also bad games arent the beauty of closed roles theyre the fault of it
except town is never serious.
Also, mafia isn't about relying on PR. It's about making smart claim especially as maf. Imagine spy, you can almost always win by jointing with third and know what claim to cc.
But sometimes game just get very unbalanced and that's the beauty of a closed set up.
my partners were paparazzi and silencer against doc, justice, santa, etc.
the setup is actually pretty bad honestly
its pretty unbalanced, assuming the game is taken semi-seriously, town will almost always win. there are too many horrible maf roles in it
and again, the "official" setup is not popular because it's liked, it's just the only option people are given without making their own or spending their time searching through the whole site instead of playing the game
i didnt say anything about closed role setups, i said there's no official setup and to promote the idea of an official setup is to exclude every role not in that setup, include even the worst roles in that setup, and generally generate bad games because when a setup tries to accommodate every possible distribution of roles it inevitably leads to bad ones, which are the majority.
it's like mortician without janitor; fiddler, silencer, and sniper; etc. it creates the worst possible games by trying to include everything (except those roles deemed by one person to be 'outside' of the 'official' setup, which you'll therefore never see)
it's not about closed role setups, it's about having the same exact closed role setups
Like I said I support variety of setups but punishing people for enjoying the 'mainstream' setup will not evoke sympathy for the new ones. There's a reason this setup is so popular, and that's because every game is unique. There are 2 sides of open role setups:
1. Those which are very distinct and that I personally adore (like idk, a setup with only villagers, masons and cult) however they tend to become boring after like 2 days and you must thus produce new setups constantly.
2. The normal, not-wacky ones like the ones people in main play. The problem with these setups is that while they imitate diversity, it is very hard to get new setups popular (try hosting a game in Main where the roles are just a tad different and you'll see that nobody joins)
Personally I am all for closed role setups if they really are unique (see type no 1), however that way Bebop would have to renew them constantly in the featured setups list. I am strongly against type 2 and do not want to see setups like 7 LMs and 1 Disguiser become popular in sandbox while other closed role setups suffer in the process.
Sorry if I made myself unclear
REMOVE SNOOP FROM SANDBOX 2K17
when i redirected the entire sandbox lobby to my profile i was the most popular sandbox user but that didn't mean people liked me
its the most popular because its dubbed "official" and pinned on the lobby wall
im not trying to elevate my own setups because i already host those, i want variety without having to host every single game myself
The setup is not bad per se; I understand your dislike for it and wanting to change the situation, but if you really want people to enjoy your 'alternative' setups then you should try to attract them to them in peaceful ways. The official setup is the most popular setup used in Sandbox after all and forcing down your preference on other people will do nothing to change that, if not have the opposite effect.

I can confirm that this is terrible. My child ran out of the house screaming for the lack of a better setup. Please reconsider your lives mods.
the ones that are pinned at the moment are actually on the way out, i've commissioned golbolco (and the role patrol if they so desire) to create a proper setup that will take the place of the "official" sandbox setup and the 5AM variant of it
