Cop report :: Name before Alignment

about 8 years

I'm not entirely sure how people adopted this culture of outing cop reports in a particular way. People seem to be too wrapped up in the belief that cop is more likely to say name before alignment when giving their report. I'm averse to this established meta-belief. I'm for changing the paradigm of simply blindly following site-meta beliefs.

I just can't stomach the reason as to why people believe this and am of the contrarian minority party of believing this to be nonsensical.

I've tried to instil that this is wrong but p much nobody listens; it's tough to change people who are set in their ways about certain things. This site-meta needs to be axed down post-haste but changing a site-wide mentality is beyond my capabilities.

TL;DR: Format of cop report isn't alignment indicative.

I'm curious and interested to hear from those who believe this meta as to why they do.

Let me be first to explain it correctly.

There's cop and mafia claiming cop.

Cop relies on his report. His night meeting is who he's going to check. Day appears, cop types his report asap. First what comes to his mind is the well saved in his memory name. Typing, he reads report. Coming with experience, it's easily to differ "village" and "mafia" reports. And what do we have? Name -> alignment.

Mafia doesn't have reports, but he has partners. He thinks about the name he's going to speak and alignment he's going to speak as well. Getting loose, mafia doesn't care about the order so he'll just out what he thinks.

And when you see cop claim outing alignment before name, you should imagine him as the cop role and learn that he cannot be the one. Because he claims that he knew the alignment, but real cop doesn't know the alignment, he knows the name. Putting a report first cop speaks what he knows, then what he's just learnt. Mafia knows what to put as alignment and name, cop only knows the name and relies on his report.

About real cops putting alignment before report... well, it depends how long it lasted. If cop puts alignment before name, it means that he was not going to out it as soon as learning the alignment, it means that day started, cop didn't type, read his report, and then intervened. The cop has already learnt his report so didn't care about the order.

That's the whole explanation.

TL;DR - if cop claims report with alignment before name, one of the following is true:
1. Claimed late.
2. It's mafia.
3. It's soda.

I get this meta belief is heavily ingrained due to "experience of past games". However view this from the evolutionary arms race of tells: Site meta seems to be that cop says name before inno which leads to scum more often than not outing cop reports in this way. Thereby making the "tell" no longer an alignment indicative factor.

no cop says inno name. none. unless they are DELIBERATELY doing it e.g trolling or just trying to prove the meta wrong. believe me, it's extremely reliable

Does "inno Darron" or "guilty Darron" not make any sense to you? Please tell me you're being ironically sarcastic with your question about writing in English whilst misspelling "sense". Secondly, even if that's your argument how does writing in proper grammar relate to alignment?

Well as with most tells in this game, nothing is 100%. However, I do take that into consideration because in my experience there is some truth to it. Some theorize that mafia predetermines their report whereas town is focused on the player. Idk if that's true but I've certainly noticed a pattern.

Darron is mafia makes much more sence. Thats propper grammar!

How does saying : Mafia is Darron make any sence? Do you even know how to write in english? There are rules in writing. Breaking those rules show that you are either do not know how to speak or you pre - made the report.
