Welcome to Forum Mafia 19: Forbidden Actions!

Game is over. Ended on Day 5

Mafia wins! This game was ranked.

The mastermind's behind this game are Gerry, Mori and myself.

The game will be played like any other Forum Mafia game, with one twist! Every player will be given an action pregame. If the action they are given is performed, they will be Killed from the game, with their forbidden action being shown afterward. More information will be given under Rules.

I. The Schedule:

72 Hour Days. 24 Hour Nights

  • If you don't submit actions by the deadline I will consider you taking no action.

II. The Set Up:

  • There is no "possible roles list". I promise not to get too crazy.

  • Mafia will have Day chat. And will know each other's Forbidden Actions

  • You will get an Alignment PM. Town or Mafia and your alignment will not change.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

III. The Rules:

As explained earlier, there will be forbidden actions. YOU CANNOT SHARE YOUR FORBIDDEN ACTION. If found to, you will be mod killed. If you commit the forbidden action, you will be killed from the game. You may speculate forbidden actions of others within the game. If asked whether your forbidden action is something, you cannot confirm or deny. You can also not soft or hint as to what your forbidden action is.

We also will be strict about ISP and replacements. If you think for any reason you MAY have to be replaced, do not sign up. We also reserve the right to deny anyone from joining, if we believe you will troll, isp, sub.

IV. Votes:

  • Votes must be made in the format Vote: Playername. Bolding is done using the tags [b][/b].

  • I will not take any other type of vote. If I can't tell who you're voting, I won't take it.

MOD NOTE Mori will be giving out a token prize to a player from each alignment who the hosts determined played best.

If you were really reading what was I saying you would see that I didn't want people jumping the guns on inconclusive evidence such as meager townreads based off one or two posts, because this is not epicmafia and Ripple is the only person who has made somewhat of a sensible post about this.

also i will sheep what himiko said because i was thinking the same thing retti thought (weird to townread certain actions) but i didn't think it was important enough to call out somebody on it 5 minutes into the game. see how it develops or see how other people enter into the game

But, honestly my question is, is it really scummy to want to out your forbidden action? I think of it more as null, because I think it's reasonable to not be happy with your forbidden action. I don't see how town or mafia would want to keep it a secret, especially when it could potentially you over.

On that note, Retti's whole thing about forbidden actions being restrictions just felt like straight up filler meant to appear as thoughtful town.

I'll be honest, I don't understand Retti's logic at all, which makes me want to scumread them, because it feels like they're grasping for the straws. Like, I don't see why they're being so nit-picky at Kassidy, and they even misread. I think a small misread is okay, but mafia tends to jump at the chance to fos a person. Tbh, more clarification would help.

Ideal, on the other hand, seems really self-conscious about their reads, not willing to give a full townread/scumread yet. I don't really like this behavior either.

I think this is a scum post.

The townread's explanation is ludicrous and even in EM games, daystart trolling is definitely not a towntell. If anything, filler/trolling is way easier for mafia to do and is far less daunting to attempt than actual scumhunting, so it can be scummy in some circumstances/depending on the player and amount. Denial definitely trolls as scum.

Not only is that an excessive explanation for a shallow read, you opened with, "I have a pretty null read on most players" but ended with a scumread on someone. I think scumreads are important enough that you wouldn't get a genuine scumread and then still feel like you have an excessive amount of null reads (and there's barely anything to read off of anyway) but okay never mind honestly this last part is really shaky

At first I liked the last line but the more I stare at it the more I think it's easily forceable

Yo, I just want y'all to know that I am playing this like a normal game of mafia and what that means is that I really really like to be TR. Trust me, when I am mafia I don't have an explicit desire to be TR'd, and that's because I'd rather just hard push a ML. So, I'm telling you right now, from the bottom of my heart, that I am town. I hope my earnest plea is enough for you all to hard TR me. Cool. Now we ready to play.

I hate the word slight, can we all find a better word? Let's go with "mild" reads.

I, for one, can say that I have not a single read and I want to wait to watch people battle it out first. :P

Yeah I misread it, but I digress. I don't see anything worth saying town/scum yet but I am against people talking about their forbidden actions/restrictions more than they should, because it won't get us anywhere and it's just WIFOM fodder, so I want to shut that down as soon as possible.

N1ed being excited he rolled town is also pretty null to me because that's just who is, imo.

Forbidden actions from where I'm seeing it is just a fancier way of saying 'restriction', which can be an eyesore to read and really easy to fake. I am not taking anyone who has openly alluded to their restriction as town therefore I don't understand konata's preemptive townreads on soda and impoetic.
