Hello everyone. I'm sure I don't need to explain why I'm making a thread now. As everyone can tell, this has been my second de-modding in two days, and I think it's reasonable I have a few complaints about this.
I have been passive about most of this affair (aside obvious from the initial comment I made which seems to have sparked this whole mess). I believe I have been more than courteous to both error and Bebop in our efforts to solve what had happened. So while I'm waiting for a response from Bebop with some much needed explanation, I'm going to talk about some things publicly.
I'd like to, first of all, talk about responsibilities of a sandbox mod. There are very little. I think those who know me know that I expect little of s̶i̶t̶e̶ lobby mods. They have little power and there is not much they need to do. They watch out for banned users, bypassing users, people spamming X-Rated, and up until more recently, keeping tabs on HC. I was modded just before the leniency on HC, so I never had to deal with many cases of punishing for it. A few things I did do as a mod include banning spam accounts, chat-banning people who requested it, trying to answer questions for confused users, and writing a few report verdicts.
Doing reports for a Sandbox mod is very silly. There are two possibilities: either we cannot close the reports or I never learned how to. Giving users actual violations is out the window as far as I can tell. It ends up that Bebop is the one who ends up writing the verdicts and closing reports. This is because not only can he actually close the reports, he can hand out violations and see previous violations (which is something else I didn't mention sandbox mods cannot do). What THIS ends up meaning is that Bebop does all the sandbox reports. Is this a lot of work? Not really. Half the sandbox reports are for HC which a sandbox mod couldn't take care of, a small percentage are banned users which sandbox mods also can't take care of, and the remaining ones are instant close reports like reports for game-throwing or joke reports (both of which we really can't do anything about since we can't close them).
Next I'd like to talk about the Skype conversation that I had with Bebop on the morning that I was first de-modded (by error). In particular, I'd like to contrast a few statements.
From Bebops recent ruling in the error thread:
And from the Skype conversation:
I think my confusion is immediately clear. Another thing that I didn't bring up earlier because I was trying to get this situation to blow over was the fact that Bebop was trying to make it seem like the wrong I did error was on equal gravity of what he did to me. My making a joke in chat, I think, was not comparable to error's overreaction.
I would like to make it clear, however, I hold no ill will to error as he has apologized to me and he (I hope) had no sway over Bebops recent choices. I am a little suprised that he chose to so quickly forgive error based on what he says is "him being a very good mod," to which I ask on what grounds? Banning people from chat for HC? That's the only thing I've really noticed.
(Notice how in this thread Bebop says error was helping another user. The users in question was MeetTerry and he was explaining to MeetTerry why f*g was not as heavily moderated in chat anymore, a fact of which Terry was aware of because of someone explaining it the day before, I'm pretty sure.)
