greetings epicmafia community,

as you know, I am now an ex-mod

this thread will not be about trying to win back the modship

my good ole pal sank says this about me:

hey everyone. while we are generally committed to allowing a diverse range of opinions on the “mod team,” we have agreed that MeetTerry has crossed a line that consequently endangers the well-being of users and goes as far as to discredit very real and sensitive issues of mental health. this is an unconscionable, callous act and goes against everything we look for in promoting users to a position where they can help the community. for that reason, we are removing him from the mod team. we would like to thank him for what he has done in his tenure and hope that he has learned something from his experience.

No where in any of my past posts makes any reference to mental health.

There are people on this site who treat life lightly, as if it's a piece of paper that one can throw out if a mistake is made on it. Posts were made essentially excusing and allowing suicide as a viable solution to a troubled person.

These posts were nonsense.

Now while I admit that I was being harsh by dismissing feelings of other people, I immediately posted explaining and clarifying the initial post. The first post had a clear frustrated and angry tone to it as reading the pro-suicide comments were infuriating.

Nevermind the fact that the thread was in General Discussion forums and nobody bothered to try and say why I'm wrong. Rather, "MeetTerry wow! what a cruel and evil guy! Demod him!"

And I still stand by my beliefs like this. This is what I have been trying to say:

There are people in this world trying to survive and improve their lives despite how stacked it was against them. If you can consider and accept that these people exist, then perhaps you should as well.

The thread is now just a circlejerk of "yes yes suicide is OK and 100% acceptable for troubled people".

too lazy, here's just an opinion

you're a good guy and i appreciate your ability to handle other people's opinions, no matter how much you disagree with them. I told you before that I used to have rather negative opinions about you, but you're a good guy and your presence is enjoyed. I think your heart is in the right place in the beliefs you have as well. I've never seen you explode or react so emotionally on this site, so props for the level headedness.

I didn't change.

There are rules to be enforced. I applied to be a moderator so I enforce rules.

People might argue how I was so "averse" to banning Harrold/roadman when he slurred, but I really wasn't. I was more dismayed that he was trying to push the moderators' buttons as much as he could. He's a good guy although some of his comments got tiring for a bit (he got banned... 5+ times in a row?)

Just don't slur. I don't slur either on here.

the amount of sloppy thinking and the blatant lax response to how people were excusing suicide were infuriating to me at the least.

perhaps bebop and crew will realize the point i was trying to make.

my goal isn't trying to get re-modded - if it were, i would have apologized and posted a mea culpa. I'm just trying to clear things up.

i can see and understand why people think that suicide is mental illness as it's ultimately a human body trying to end its living function

I don't know. I'll look more into and come up with a better answer.

I think everybody has. But for me, you must overcome it and essentially get a grip on reality. For me, realizing that there are kids and families that are trying to survive despite how bad they have it, especially those who are trying to run away from ISIS/Daesh

that some people try to survive being born into slavery still today

that there are millions of families who are trying their best to overcome a lack of potable water, reliable food source, etc.

when you realize the pains and sufferings of people who have had it far worse than you since their birth, it makes you realize that you should be like them, to survive and overcome obstacles

I was expecting backlash but I had hoped people would understand the point I was trying to make eventually. Yes, I was being harsh, but I made that clear immediately.

as I said to Bebop earlier, I'm not salty or angry over my removal, but rather dismayed by a group of people who got mad that I suggested to not kill themselves and the fact that someone allege I was making references to mental health.
