This riddle became so popular in my country later so I'm gonna tell u it and let u try to solve it xD
Here we go
A money thief had a fake 100 $ he went to a shop and bought from it's owner a newsletter that costs 10$ as he gave the fake 100$ to the shop owner the shop owner didn't have 90$ he had only solid money so he went to a cafe and gave it's owner the fake 100$ solid and took ten 10$(which means 10 x 10 = 100 x3 ) then the shop owner gave the thief the rest of his money which are 90 $ then after a while the cafe owner came to shop owner and told that 100$ he gave to him is fake so the shop owner gave him another 100$
How much did the shop owner lose?
(I shall answer it after a while xD) if you are confused write in the comments and I will answer (i'm not that good at writing in meaning xD)

people are real poor at juggling numbers. it's actually pretty easy scam people out of like 20 bucks or something if u get them to break notes in trading something, i used do it to one of my mates a bunch when it came time to paying tick on weed and he'd have a whole bunch of other people's money to get lost in too lol. i know, lousy, but still

"when HE GAVE the thief 90$ he lost them" Correction is "when HE GAVE the thief 90$ then he lost them because these are his own money"

let's say how it got solved well (Part 1) 1. When the money thief came to the shop owner he gave him FAKE 100$ and took a newsletter that costs 10 $
2.The shop owner didn't have any non solid money so he went to a cafe owner and EXCHANGED with him he gave him his FAKE 100$ that the thief gave to him( they didn't know it was fake and took 10 papers of 10 $(10 x 10 = 100)(THEY ARE REAL NOT FAKE)
3. The thief took the newsletter and took his 90 $ WHICH ARE THE REST OF HIS MONEY that he gave to shop owner while the shop owner took his profit which is 10 $
( Till now this part calculations are) 1)The Thief Gained: Real 90 $ and a newsletter 2)Shop Owner Gained: REAL 10 $ profit(no losses) 3)The cafe owner Lost: 100$(as he took a fake one and gave him a real one)
(Part 2)
1.The cafe owner went to the shop owner and told him that he gave him a fake 100$ so the shop owner gave him another 100$
(This part calculations are) The cafe owner gained:100 $ The shop owner lost:100$
(TOTAL CALCULATIONS ARE) 1)Thief Gained:Real 90 $ and a newsletter 2)The shop owner lost: (Part 2 - Part 1) = (100 - 10 ) = 90 $ 3)The cafe owner didn't lose nor gain: (Part 1 = Part 2) = (100 - 100) = 0
(The confusion is that most of people think that when HE GAVE the thief 90 $ he lost them. Well NOPE he didn't BECAUSE this 90 $ was for the thief. How? Well remember he gave the shop owner 100 $ and took a newsletter that costs 10 $ but you would tell me "But it's fake!" well true but still remember that he exchanged with the cafe owner he TOOK a real one :) ) a hard one eh?

newspaper guy lost a customer in the dude who scammed him, that dude's not coming back :(
YAY i finally understood why people answered $90/$100 but i actually support $90
here's why --
do you remember when the shop owner took a real $100 from the cafe owner? AND then he gave $90 to the thief.
i'm not going to count $90 as the shop owner's money since he only used it for the exchange so basically he got a free $10
OP wrote this" "the shop owner gave ANOTHER $100 to the cafe owner" right? but he got a free $10 at the cashier so that means he lost $90
i don't support the statement where it says "the shop owner lost $10 from the newspaper" because he never gained anything from the newspaper to begin w/. it has no value in itself!! :-)
maybe we could say that he lost $90 + how much he bought the newspaper but we do not know that so we're just gonna say that he lost $90
