Your Mafia Idol(s)

deletedover 8 years

ITT give the person/people who you admire the most and whose gameplay you tend to emulate.

When I first started playing comp my first idol was turquoise. I thought she was absolutely incredible and I would sheep her every game.

Obviously, turq left after some time. I think I tried to pick up some of Shivv's game play but failed miserably. But I really did admire Shivv even though he was kind of a douche.

While Anthony was banned I would occasionally play games with him and his friends. I admired his love for the game and when he came back to main lobby, I picked up some of his scum-hunting techniques. I think Anthony was the one who inspired me to be less of a troll player. I think these days I'm like 10% troll and 90% serious in ranked mafia games.

One final idol I have from this site is none other than pranay. Everyone questions this player quite a bit. If a player like Anthony stuffs a game, everyone just goes "man Anthony you stuffed it but good try" mainly because he's less aggressive than pranay. When pranay loses a game everyone bashes him and makes fun of him. We're not all perfect, we're all gonna have bad games. Due to pranay's aggressive attitude in all games, his games where he absolutely dominates the game are undermined due to it being popular to bash him when he loses as opposed to applaud him when he wins. Regardless, over the years, I've acknowledged that pranay knows the game like the back of his hand. He knows how to adapt to every situation. He knows all the techniques. I noticed that when I played with him he was very smart about the game like me. And I highly respected that. So I emulated his game play quite a bit as well. Hence why I'm super aggressive in about 80% of my games. Players like turquoise and Sarah who played with me when I first started comp would say I was an easygoing player. Players today would say I'm a manipulative aggressive dominating player in most games I play. And that's because I've emulated pranay's playstyle because I mad respect him.

Also as of recently, I re-joined mafiascum which was the mafia site I used briefly before joining epicmafia. As of recently I've definitely emulated some of the playstyles of people there. It's irrelevant who though since most of you aren't on that site.

TL;DR: turquoise, Shivv, Anthony, pranay7744, various MSers

I saw a guy solve 3 rubix cubes blindfolded yesterday. Even he would struggle with a 15 minute build order.

More importantly, it must be so boring playing a static build order with 0 adaption to the current game.

tryndamere's never had that problem cause no one wants to look like they had their testes removed as an infant

15 minutes is insane.

i guess if you're still learning mechanics it's alright but i'd play with high masters friends in sc2 who would show me lists that'd extend 15 minutes into the game

I remember being pretty much the only heimerdinger and mordekaiser player in season 2 of LoL playing at diamond-challenger level, then when I came back after a long siesta and played those champions, I was told I was copying a famous streamer. Shît gets annoying.

When you're a total beginner I don't see the problem with it. I find it stupid that everyone on hearthstone uses netdecks. It saps the legitimacy out of ranked play as most games aren't decided on a skill cap basis, they're merely how good your rng and top decking goes. I get to legend playing my own decks and it's satisfying, but it does your head in running into the same decks every single game. 100% carbon copies of one another.

Build orders have been a thing since pre brood war. Replays were just about the only thing your bandwidth was capable of downloading in order to improve back in those days.

i remember being disgusted when i found out people use build orders up to 100 supply in starcraft lol

abc- how to be scummy and still not get lynched

this is actually very true ftr

I have learnt the following things from following people

thecynic- I was lucky to have played games with this guy. He was the player that made me think that there is more to this game than just claiming your role. I learnt from him how one should claim his role.

abc- how to be scummy and still not get lynched

brownpimp- how to learn and develop my game and how to do high level coding in game; how to not die n1 in a game where there is no doc.

atikur- why being scummy as town is important, and how to use codes to out reads

eric/hibiki/systemoverload (many players like them)- how to be null so that you can rely on clears to be afraid of lynching you

kerry/billstickers- the idea that you can distract town from noticing important things that may put you into autoloss

mikeyru/maymay- how to towntell as town when there is a noob clear

radar- mechanics

prevail/turquoise- the idea that you can ate

shivv/soda- how to get your lynch through when you are in a bad situation

riddler- how to turn the tide and instill fear in people when required

thegatso- the idea that you can stall a game in order to veg someone

giga- how to towntell as town when the clear is good

I can't mention all the names that I have learnt from

I literally learn many things from every user I come by. I learn everyday. I idolize the combination of above players, but I do not mimic their style. I pick the good things from people and follow it. Very few ideas of reading people and explaining the reads are my own. All of them have been picked up from other users. I combine all the good things of many great epicmafia players. I learn many towntells from people everyday, i learn many ways to catch scum from people everyday.

Considering he nearly always played alone makes his wins even more impressive, yet did he never display any sort of skill the few times he played in stacked tables.

can't edit my first comment anymore, but i'd like to add brownpimp007 to my list.

ive heard a lot of people say 'he ran with 5 accounts every round dude'

but I feel like his reads had a lot of depth and he was also really good at being mafia

yeah he did but he still placed top 10 with 2 or 3 of them pretty much every time; the only people who used this argument were the ones who were jealous/hate bandwagon, since, you still have to do great on one account to win, which he did several times

That TMJuke guy was really sick.

Other than that, no one. I played my own game and stuck to it.
