Speaking of what sets humans apart from most/all animals, what do you think of the soul? Do humans have souls, and, if so, is it only them or other animals too?
I don't think much sets us apart from animals besides intelligence and the fact were the dominant ones our line comes from monkeys right? (right? I read that somewhere god) I never really read deep into the whole "soul" thing as when I think soul its the part of you that passes on when you die so I do think animals also have a soul just like we have emotions and so do they
Intelligence is really vague, especially when comparing it to animals. Yes, we are intelligent like we can solve complex problems, or the fact we don't just act out on our primal instincts. However, many animals have been show to be able to solve complex problems, or show empathy to fellow animals.
I remember reading somewhere, the fact we're warm-blooded was an important factor in our development.
(This may get a bit religious so let me just say I don't really have a stance on if god is real or if it's fake rn)
I somewhat disagree with you on the fact that a soul is what makes us do those things I think that comes from the brain and the heart I think whatever made us humans if that be god a bang or w/e you believe was made with a goal in mind but that was long ago and we evolved from that and so did our purpose and feelings
I think the best example I can give is how people in the older times hunted and had kids and that was the main goal they had but if you look at us now everyone's story is different
If our purpose was to just have offsping and keep us going wouldn't being gay not exist or the feeling to not want kids
For animals that is a hard question to answer but I think the answer is yes but in there own way

Where would you place yourself on your scale, lilin?
looks to me like you are denying the antecedent lilin

I was just thinking of the ability humans have to cause harm to themselves or commit suicide, because, if our goal as a species was strictly biologically passing ourselves down to our offspring, that wouldn't be possible.
Because we have a soul, we're able to do things like I just described.
Are there any good examples of animals doing things like those, and not just expressing negative emotions?

Sonia, as much as I really want to understand what you just said, I can't
Can you please reformat and retype that so I can comprehend the "2 cents" you're bringing
Sure my bad
I think using the term Looking at people as "Objects" is extreme and harsh as when I see that I think people have bad intent
I think people do favors sometimes for others and expect something in return when asked yes but that's part of life a "you help me I'll help you thing" because we all need to depend on people at some point in our life
Thanks, I didn't mean anything when I said I couldn't understand, because i really couldn't.
I am sorry if you thought I had ill intent when I posted that, but I do not personally agree with what I said. I used that because I thought that was the question Lilin/Discordia were discussing.
Also, I agree about the favor part. We do favors for each other and seek fairness.

I feel very honored to be leading the positive people
Discordia, do you believe acting against one's desires is the right thing to do? I am not asking if it is good or bad
I'm not sure if it's right but I certainly think restraining desire and choosing to do things running against our own urges is something that sets human beings apart from animals so the argument could be made that since all humans share this special quality that we have a moral duty towards our fellow man and to restrain ourselves.
