This is a thread for me to give you feedback on what I personally think are your strengths/weaknesses as a player. I will be as thorough and specific as possible, and you may agree with my summation or think it should be tossed into the garbage can of opinions. I'm doing this both to get feedback and to force myself to be more thoughtful as to what some contributors are to strong and weak play with the hope of incorporating fixes of my own.
If you post, ideally you should have played at least a few games with me (Tatami, Iverson, Empire, hundreds of others...) but if I'm not familiar with you I can spec your most recent games.
Finally, if you have played with me and would like to comment on my play, feel free to do so here. I may agree/disagree and give a response but I won't scream at you and call you wrong.
Haven't played with you and only two recent games so I'm skipping you sorry. Strengths: -Extremely difficult to read. Works wonders for when you're mafia. I've come to accept in my mind that I have to really read you based off of PoE, otherwise simply coinflip. -Probably some of the most accurate reads on the site, I'm not exactly sure how but it's very, very rare for you to be off the mark entirely. -Moderately strong setups for your partners in the event you are lynched
Weaknesses: -Easier to lynch than you should be. Tough balance to be unreadable but not an easy lynch but you can definitely make improvements simply by being an asset and seeming "more likely town than not" even if they can never be sure. -Your reads are a black box. I mean this in the sense that you take in the game and put something out, but you never really see the thought process that goes into it or how you got there. The explanations you do give are usually lacking, either from weakness (ie. mostly gut) or by you skipping steps you think are obvious but are not to others. -Why is your reads being a black box a bad things? It's harder to get others to follow you. I've had a ridiculous number of games with you where you're right but I can simply overpower the other town into either voting your townread or lynching you directly.
If I had to summarize you as a player, as scum it's "Difficult to read, strong teammate, but rarely solocarries", as town it's "Generally right but loses for lack of persuasion" (Note that persuasion is a key part of solocarrying as scum as well)
ie. Don't just be right, put the team on your back.

Rate me instead on my strengths and weaknesses as a Kylo Ren Cosplayer.
No worries, I tend to remember a lot of very random, specific things and players are generally some of those. I don't expect most people I've played with to remember me unless we've had a more notable interaction than just ingame.
my long term memory is horrible, I'm so sorry. I remember my impression of you because that's probably stored in some different part of the brain or something ikdlfgr, but i only remember about 2 or 3 different individual situations in which we've played, not including the PM you sent me (<3).
Others coming later, for now I'll respond to some quick things.
I wonder if I've actually played enough games with you
We've played approximately 40 games which is more than enough.
However, I see why you're regarded as one of the best. Your towngame and scumplay are almost identical from what I've seen
I'm really glad you think that way, thank you. Your play is very strong for what I've seen and I'll have more comments on it later.
i dont think we ever played much together, or if we did, it was like once many yrs ago. but ur a good dude
I've never really interacted with you that much but I really appreciate this sentiment. Everything I've seen of you suggests you're a great dude too, so thanks Satan.
Most of my reads are based on interactions or meta. When I used to play and know somewhat how nearly every single player played as maf respective alignment But nowadays the few games I play Im kinda bad.
Why are you surprised to be on the list Tyler? Most of the current players suck.
I have some feedback for you Tyler. I used to do the same thing as mafia that you do. Don't explain your townreads too logically as mafia because it will just PoE yourself as scum to the clears
Thanks for the feedback-I completely agree, this has been one of my biggest struggles for awhile and something I'm very aware of. The best way to hardcarry as scum is simply to out genuine reads and pretend you're town, but this can backfire pretty easily. As Tatami I've gotten more adept at worming my way out of these situations and faking it, but it's definitely a recurring issue.
Part of the problem is that I decide on a way to play the game, ie. by getting these 2 players lynched and calling the rest town, only to have one of them become irrefutably obvious town and be forced to backpedal. This is a matter of flexibility and poor prediction for the flow of the game on my end.
As for why I am surprised to be on the list, I have heard of very few people naming me even the best active, and even fewer top 10 of all time. It makes me glad that I've upped my play, so thank you.
this is a top 10 players thread. everyone list your top 10 players
Strengths: -Your AtE is top notch and compounds your ability to towntell massively. -Even outside the AtE your tone in general is pretty good. -Logically above average and more than able to hold your own in an argument.
Weaknesses: -I never saw you as scum person, ally but speccing your games some of your reads look noticeably more forced than those where you flip town. -A lot of the ingame logic I'm seeing doesn't stand up to further scrutiny, you've got mixed baskets at times: some of your strongest points are lost in the midst of ones that work against you -Reads. Glancing through your recent games the problem seems to be relying too much on tonereads, some of the players outed logic that truly made no sense from the getgo (ie. not just wrong but "Why would they even think that in the first place?") but as it looked plausible you likely let it slide rather than putting it under the magnifying glass
Strengths: -Very logical and mechanically competent -Exceptionally difficult read (More on this later) -Above average ability to dodge lynches -Spectacular at setting up scumteam to win game down the line. Your ability to set up your team or at least try to salvage their poor play carries regularly. You know when to bus, you know when to save, you know how to be a bit more subtle with your interactions.
Weaknesses: -I mentioned before that you are above average at dodging lynches. You should be much, much better at this for someone of your skill level. Being a difficult read is a two sided coin, it works wonders as scum but is a detriment as town. As scum you don't have to avoid a lynch to hardcarry, but as town you instantly lose all influence and the game becomes much harder. -Reads are above average but could use some work-you don't really try to explain them that much anymore which makes it difficult to try to see where you're going wrong. -One implication of the above that I'll mention separately is that you need to know when you should hardcarry the game and go all out with towntelling as scum and not rely on your teammates to follow the setup you've given them. -You don't try enough anymore and seem to have acquired a distaste for tryharding. You can't be the best player on the court if you don't play.
All of this said, I was fascinated with your probabilistic approach to the game and it inspired me to write a basic guide to statistically optimal play. I've noticed a lot of wellregarded and skilled players still only have the basic level of guidelines for optimal play down. A lot of the more nuanced rules seem to be a mystery (ex. when it is statistically optimal to cc and how, when it is statistically optimal to lynch the report, etc). Thank you so much for posting it-it was really interesting despite being rulebreaking.
Those were pro vets I listed. Matt12 you were actually good but not one of the best. You also meta'd with RoughNightBro for a lot of your trophies. cya
I dont even remember the last time we played but lets go
You're one of the weirdest players I've played with so I had to spec several games. I honestly screamed when I saw you post first.
Strengths: -You've got exceptionally strong tone, I'm used to it and don't read into it but I see other players regularly townread you when they really shouldn't for it. This works in your favor regardless of what you are. -Generally able to back up your reads pretty well when you want to (but more on those reads later) -Basic mechanical competence
Weaknesses: -Your reads, while you have some reasoning, are pretty random at times. Sitting there and asking yourself "Is what I'm reading REALLY a towntell/scumtell?" vs. being null or even the reverse would be a big help. -Not trying enough/barely pays attention. Straight up it's hard to gauge how good you are when you barely try, and you'll win more games and have more fun if you put in effort. The losses are harder but more educational, the wins are so much more rewarding, and you will feel yourself getting better as a result. -Too dependent on winning yourself as scum. Bussing is distancing 101, beyond this you should be able to do a lot more to ensure the scumwin after your death. Because you are such a tone based player it makes it difficult to set up your team after lynches, for instances if you win/lose a cc. You getting lynched is a lot harder for your team than it should be.
