transgirls in sports

over 8 years

this thread was locked some time ago but we never actually had a discussion on it. from past chatbox encounters, a lot of people were interested in it.

greetings epicmafia community,

I think we need a good discussion on trans-people in sports.

Recently, I was reading the news that a trans-girl had been allowed to play on the girls track team. However, this person began to break many previously held records established by other women.

Personally, I believe this is extremely unfair to other people born as girls - objectively, the male human body is stronger and faster than that of a female on average.

please discuss

should trans-people be allowed to play on sports teams?

I mean I could spend an hour going back and forth with you while you exhaust the list of logical fallacies and get nowhere because you're not actually interested in the topic and only in vomiting forth words in an attempt to create a virtual dunce cap for me, or I can ask why you're doing this

i concede, you're right about everything, you explained it so succinctly it was almost as if you had nothing to say

Why don't you sit down and tell me what's really bothering you

and hey I get it, males are generally better at certain physical tasks. i mean, that's not the rule, but i guess mediocre generalizations are good enough if you're too stupid to come up with a more accurate measurement

certain races of people are more likely to commit crimes. i mean, it's actually because of poverty, but that's too hard to measure, so let's just go by skin color instead

oh those two things are different aren't they, because you hold different positions on both therefor they can't be equatable because that would conflict with your beliefs

words you confused

1. cherrypicked: i didnt take a line out of your post, i responded to your whole post
2. hypothetical: requires a hypothetical
3. contradiction: unless having an open mind is a contradiction, i see no such thing. although i wouldnt be surprised if you think accepting that you didn't consider everything at first thought would be contradictory and not just the intelligent thing to do

additionally, you probably thought your post was a refutation. unfortunately, nothing was refuted, my point stands and you can't really argue otherwise because your frail ego would crumble under the realization you dont know everything

I didn't confuse anything. You've been on a tear trying to make me look silly lately ever since I said that you're arrogant, and it's disappointing to witness. You know you don't have a point. I know you don't have a point. Stop being a dickwad.

"I didn't confuse anything."

Oh, well surely you'll correct me as to why I'm wrong

"You've been trying to make me look silly because such and such, disappointing"

Wait, is that your evidence that you didn't confuse anything, or is this just completely unrelated personal squabble?

"You don't have a point"

Alright, well maybe you'll tell me why I'm wrong and where my logical shortcomings are

"Stop being a dickwad"

it all makes sense now, thanks

here's raw logic

why are the sexes separated?
-> hormonal and biological differences

there are hormonal and biological differences within a single sex
-> conflict of reason
-> new premise: separate base on hormonal and biological differences

see, when you do something for a reason, it makes more sense for what you do to be the reason than some vaguer concept outside of the reason. it isn't because of sex, it's because of these characteristics generally associated with sex, although herein lies the problem where high testosterone women outperform low testosterone women and low testosterone men underperform high testosterone men and ultimately the problem presents itself yet again because you never solved it in the first place

now my advice on proceeding: don't reply instantly, read the post and try really hard to think what those strings of words mean

Banned? Nah. Separate divisions? Maybe

so in other words, sex is irrelevant, it's all about hormone levels

Your cherrypicked hypothetical doesn't hold up well trying to back me into a contradiction. It was obvious what you were doing from the devito post, I just memed in hopes you would, knowing how silly your play was, abandon it and meme back

Probably, none of them would be able to bend low enough to even touch him. If he could perfect his shot then he would dominate.

with cloning on the way i think its time we start sectioning off records by clones of athletes competing amongst themselves

let's pit a team of shaquille o'neals against more shaquille o'neals, winning team gets their spot in the hall of shaquille o'neal

And I'm not sure (can anyone be? Need sources) that hormones completely take away that advantage.

specifically, hormone blockers, since its testosterone that makes you stronger and not estrogen that makes you weaker. you'll still have any muscle mass gained although it'll be harder to maintain and fall off over time as usual. that wont change everything though no

bdog1321 says

You can usually tell if someone is trans even if they're in hormones. There really isn't much of a defense for allowing it other than silly feelings stuff

should females with higher levels of testosterone be banned from sports

after all, they have the advantage

i think people who care about physical feats fail to realize these records are universally broken because at this level where everyone trains their whole lives, the difference comes down to genetics. some people will naturally have a higher capacity for certain feats and some won't

i think we've proven already through animal breeding and things like horse racing that it all comes down to genetics and whoever wins or loses isn't determined by any skill or accomplishment over the competition who trains just as if not harder but simply can't surmount physical limitations

so really who cares its not like records are legit anyway

this is true lol

the male body isnt technically stronger than the female body. it depends on different circumstances

Like someone who was born female and spent most of their life doing physical labor would be stronger than someone born male who just sat around

yes but usually people who are in the olympics are usually athletes by a young age

then they're probably equal strength wise, especially since they've been training for the same sports. events. whatever.

why would there be different olympics then

because people view women as weaker than men? idk?

sorry. im biased about this topic, so.

This is so dumb

Sports are inherently physical. Biological. There is a reason men's and women's sports are separated. Their bodies are different. Sports should not take identification into account because that doesn't change the hardware that determines one's athletic ability. And I'm not sure (can anyone be? Need sources) that hormones completely take away that advantage. You can usually tell if someone is trans even if they're on hormones. There really isn't much of a defense for allowing it other than silly feelings stuff

Even if they have an unfair advantage, they still have the right to be in sports teams.
They arent males anymore, at least they will be the mvps of their teams.

what about, uh, natural born women's right to be in sports teams? to be mvps?
