Le Lys dans la Vallée By Balzac ( The lily of the valey)

With the help of google and my poor english skills, i translated a resume for you, the english resume that i've found wasn't good enough since its a french roman.

Basically , a story of a passionate and platonic love
between Felix de Vandenesse(the main character), who was the cadet of an aristrocratic family, and Countess Lady Mortsauf, righteous wife of Count Mortsauf, A dark and violent husband.

Felix recounts his unhappy childhood where he felt unloved and hated and his encounter with a heavenly woman who became for him, his second mother and an unreachable lover. After years of a chaste relationship, he met Lady Dudley in Paris, an english aristrocrat who introduced him to the joys and sensuous passions. The Countess learn about them and their relationship begins to fade untill her death.

i feel like you'd be really into The Lies of Locke Lamora

The Brothers Karamazov I struggled to get into and ultimately ended up not finishing it.

Crime & Punishment was a piece of Russian literature that I enjoyed though. However, I'd say John Steinbeck is my favorite author. East of Eden is one of my favorite novels.

If you're looking for a lighter read, check out "Kitchen Confidential" , it's what catapulted Anthony Bourdain to his game and if you've ever worked in food you'll appreciate his stories.

I've been reading a lot of non fiction lately, boning up on my Native American history, specifically plains tribe Indians around the time of the Civil War
