Trophying 2 Rounds in a row

deletedover 8 years

Now that we have two decent admins who I think are willing and ready to embrace change (for the better) I believe it is an opportune time to bring forward a suggestion with regards to trophying.

I believe that the rule stopping people from trophying twice in a row is unnecessary and really does not have a strong reason behind it .

As a competitive person, I would much rather go up against everyone and anyone who wants to run. For example this round gerry cant trophy which means I am unable to compete against him which would make the round more enjoyable and competitive. I'd love to see which players are good enough to win more than 1 trophy in a row. It is also something new to strive for, for those who have already trophied and need something new to achieve.

I don't really see why people shouldnt be allowed to trophy twice in a row. I dont think it would cause the same people to win trophies every round, it would be quite a feat to be able to trophy twice in a row. Anyone who could achieve this would thoroughly deserve it. Removing this restriction will just allow for higher levels of competition in my mind.

I think we should amend the rule to players not being able to trophy any rounds.

no one cares

No one has actually given a good reason for why you shouldnt be allowed to trophy twice in a row.

First off it wouldn't be fair considering the winners can pick the setups that they prefer and are better at compared to others.
Second of all you wanna give more people the chance to win a trophy. This is a website that makes money off the traffic and visits. If people feel like they are just the supporting actors in the background then they are just not gonna wanna play as much.
Also I think one would get bored of winning back to back trophies and would feel off playing games afterwards but this is a personal choice.

Oh gosh, like wasting 10 days of your life on winning in a small competition is enjoyable enough that you would like to do it 2 times in a row!

As much as playing mafia online and in real life is fun for me, I still gotta tell you that this is a gaming website with a small community and based on the fact that more than 50% of the time you're playing with the same people playing almost the exact same way when they are not town, You should know that winning trophies back to back is not something to be proud of, it's not an accomplishment.

But if people actually wanna care about it then no running back to back shouldn't be allowed imo.

I said years ago there should be 4-6 different types of competitions that rotate. That way you can motivate people to get Grand Slams of all of them and it keeps things fresh for everyone else.

this is actually a fun idea lol

Because God commanded it.

What would be the different types first off? Like themed rounds or something different.

The question is, is this idea implementable without lucid coding the different types of rounds

i think this is a better concept than the 'setup rounds' btw

setup rounds are pretty much like the themed rounds.. which didn't really do much for livening up competition.

corruptions idea kinda reminds of the EM olympics things mafiagod used to do

Only if they're forced to play only anon setups that round.

Comp is becoming stale and needs something to generate interest to people who have lost interest in playing.

it's not stale because of the concept, it's stale because it's the same thing over and over again. the variety in setups is at an all-time low. the concept is fine, even if you suffer a bad start you can still make up for it.

it's just that playing the same setup over and over is tiresome and it becomes more of a task to play all your hearts than something you do for fun.

idgaf if u allow consecutive winners or just making comp less frequent, because it won't change much

Also what happened to the blacklisted setup round that was supposed to happen under harry. That should really be done at least just once for fun.

Another idea would be to just only run the competition maybe twice a month like 1st & 15th of the month to generate more interest in running and so it doesn't feel like a continuous never ending round.

Ya I remember I proposed something like this when I was thinking of fixing the mentor program.

This would still be a good idea.

Comp is becoming stale and needs something to generate interest to people who have lost interest in playing. Either that or shutting it off for a week or two to generate hype. Dealing with just playing red hearts might be unbearable for some people but if most of the comp players will be too it shouldn't be too bad.

You're right denial neither side can really be argued without exaggerating.

Let me say this though, the main reason I'm arguing at all because I think due to how insignificant this change is to anything it's really a fight between the idea of "leave things the same as per tradition" and "find new alternatives that work just as well"

And I am arguing in favor of "find new alternatives that work just as well" because I like that approach in general because it makes things less boring.

i am exaggerating a bit but thats because either side can really be argued. i take the more cynical realistic approach to leave it as is because I can see how/why people complained in the past to change it, and why people may complain in the future if you happen to change it back

This like saying that Sandra should be able to compete in every season of survivor

I mean I don't think it's a problem with the same people dominating the board every round aside from soda17 when he used to run every single round. Most of the current player base just casually plays when they're not running and I don't see this rule dramatically changing that if even at all. It may affect maybe a few users who get lucky enoug to trophy twice but I don't see it happening frequently.
over 8 years
The only time a river of tears ever happens over a trophy is when there's cheating involved, u're exaggerating denial.

If anything the small possible psychological effect on the player-base you're proposing is balanced out by the other small psychological effect that is people thinking of people who trophy back to back as role models and wanting to be like them and therefore playing more.

Having the occasional pranay-free round is so nice, though!
