Season 5 was an awesome season with our winner Reamix! We had some sad departures leaving the EMI Judges table, shout out to Kam and Luis4rod for their hard work and service. Thank you for all of those who participated, you are all so talented and we would not be able to have this without your amazing voices. No amount of thank you can be said to our judges who worked very hard and were so dedicated to helping and giving their all to our singers to improve each week.
1) The rap song has to be by 2 people and the rapper has to solely rap, he/she can't sing whatsoever, correct?
2) Do we only post the rap part or do we have to do the whole song as well? (If we do have to do the whole song PLUS our Adele entry, what if it exceeds the maximum of 5 minutes. Are we allowed to cut the songs shorter?)
I have no idea how to respond to your first question, but for the second question, it's one song...can be any song...but it has to have a minimum of 30 seconds of rapping in it at some point.
Dang it guys I was maybe gonna do So Good by B.O.B. but I can't rip me
Of all the songs I already know that fit the rap portion, I'm basically down to just Price Tag by Jessie J ft. B.O.B. or Dark Horse by Katy Perry ft. Juicy J.
Epic by Faith No More-- No. The singer raps the chorus. Even though he's a versatile vocalist, he's blurring the line between singing and rapping.
It's Tricky by RUN DMC-- No. This is a group, there's no melody, and they're all rapping together.
Walk This Way by RUN DMC--Yes. Steven Tyler sings the chorus.
Not Afraid by Eminem--No. Eminem sings the chorus. Not two different people.
Stan by Eminem--Yes. Elton John sings the chorus.
In The End by Linkin Park-- Unclear. Since it's two different people singing and rapping in two very different styles, I think it'd be okay. I'm understand "groups" as referring to rap groups, like the Beastie Boys or Grandmaster Flash.
Welp, I knew exactly which Adele song to sing, and while the rap caught me off guard (before closer examination of the rules, I almost went for the half a verse that gets semi-rapped In "Secrets" by One Republic.) But I found a song I already know, and I just need to practice the rap. Some of it is, you could say, "rap"idfire. XD
So I've been reading over the results again and again, waiting anxiously for the next theme, and a question happened. Looking back, my song didn't fit the theme as well as it could have. Had I given a performance of the exact same quality, but using a true rock song, would I have gotten a better score? If so, about how many points would it have bumped me up by?
Not gonna lie I thought I was just about screwed. Thanks to the judges for letting me stick around another week, and here's hoping for a spot in the top 10! Please, dear Jesus, let the next theme be country or Broadway!

So I just wanted to let you all know that regardless of what happens with EMI, this will be my last season as a judge. I've had 3 great seasons to judge and heard a lot of natural, raw talent on this site. I'm thankful to have participated in the past and done well enough to be asked to be a judge. I want to really give a shout out to everyone I've judged with, you've helped me grow as a person in ways you probably can't imagine. I want to give a shoutout to all contestants and let them know this contest only happened because you were willing to put yourself out there and take, sometimes harsh, criticisms. For the most part, you are all champs in my eyes for doing so. Thank you for letting us host and judge one of the most successful singing competitions (in terms of length of time) on EM. Finally I want to thank the people who didn't participate, but supported your singers. You are all fantastic support and are one of the reasons I enjoyed judging so much. I will still be around till the end of this season...and if it's the finale, so be it then no one returns haha. If it continues, at least you know where I stand. Love you all :)
