Also, I'd like to add that PissProblems should be someone you should really consider. They are a respected user, as far as I am aware, and have a good sense of balance. I cannot recall a time I've seen them stir the drama pot, and they are always a pleasant individual to be around, and play games with.
Cub (Foxie), contributes a lot to the site, and thus has proven their capacity to be here, and actually be apart of the community.
Reamix would be good, but I think Reamix is also busy a lot of the time so wouldn't be around too much. However, this could be balanced out with a good mod team.
Trick would also be good, but isn't around that much either, and I'm sure is also busy irl.
Bebop seems like more of a newcomer in the sense of being apart of the community. I think he has done a good job as mod, and would maybe be a good owner. The only way to find out is by doing a test run.
Error would also be a good owner, but could become power-hungry, as we've seen when he was a mod.
Jimbei is a circlejerk pick, and although could be good, is way too opinionated, and will likely ban people without real cause.
Peach is also a good pick, but isn't around that much either.
As for SirAmelio, he's contributed a lot to the community, and has been here for awhile. This is another person I would give a test run to see how it pans out.
I think the important thing to remember here is that no matter who is chosen, some people will like them, and some people will not. We need someone who is going to step away from favoritism, and actually do good for the sandbox community by both listening, and abiding by the site's rules.
Garden's inactivity is why this is even happening. Being active is essential, or at least having a mod team which is active and able to act of their own accord.
I don't really have any opinion on this.
The return of mod elections. If this is something that you feel works within Sandbox, then I see no reason not to support it. The only thing is, polls can be manipulated, so they are not completely reliable. This is where judgment is necessary.
If people aren't doing this then they have no place in website moderation, unless there are outlying reasons which can be explained, however this is a rarity.
If your friend is capable, trustworthy, and reliable, then I see no issue with modding a friend as long as you can remain impartial. Having different values is near enough essential. We have it in the site mod team, and it's healthy because it encourages discussion which contributes to a middle ground, rather than a false-democracy.
Well I'm probably not the first option for this at all so I'm just going to drop some stuff that I personally think would be the best things to do as an owner.
-Transparency: One of the better things of Kenny's ownership (at first anyways since it was dropped eventually) is the fact that they didn't ban people without posting a screenshot with proof of why they were banned, and for how long they would be. This was a great idea that was dropped after a few months on Kenny's ownership and was never retaken by neither Golbolco, Platypops nor Gardenfulloflies.
-No circlejerks: Let's stop just modding friends. Let's mod people who are capable. I understand wanting to mod a friend to have someone you 100% trust, but other than that there should be skilled people. People who have proven they would be good, with either being good leaders, knowing a lot about the rules and games, and also who don't seem to be too emotional, soft or biased. Also getting someone with different values to the owner itself can be good to have a fairer moderation.
-Be active: One of the main problems in basically every recent owner was that they weren't active, and I'm guessing this was the main reason why garden was removed. But the activity should be in all, games, chatbox and forums. Both for the owner and the mods themselves, unless they are distributed fairly (ie a mod just for chatbox, another just for games, another just for forums, etc)
-Polls, activities, etc: Make the polls way more often. Daily or at the very least every two days. Make fun activities for the community to have fun.
-Involve the community: Maybe let them pick a mod out of the mod applications? Consult them in changes like which games to add, wheter they want to have a day for ranked games, maybe even banner and background.
As stated in the OP, the winner will not be automatically selected. This means giving reasons for your voting will help me have a better understanding as to who to appoint.
This is simply because people can vote with alts, or circle jerk a vote through Skype etc.
The poll helps me have a general understanding of how things should look.
alternatively, instead of giving it to whoever without fundaments, ask people to nominate themselves explaining what they would do or not do as owners and then we can have an actual democratic vote (even tho itd still be fairly circlejerked)
but honestly, there is no reason for this, while garden is an incompetent owner, at least the community was pretty stable right now, and its not like we were having bad modship either (if that were the case, reamix and bebop shouldn't be included in this poll)
