Back to Complaints

Definition of HC.

deletedalmost 9 years

Anyone else notice the mod team just changed it to cover their tracks of bad moderation. Why didn't they tell us?...should everyone with a hate comment be unbanned because former/current mods didn't even know what a hate comment was? So unprofessional..yet so typical.

TO THE MODS:

Be productive and actually talk about something site relevant in the moderator chat, and come up with ACTUAL GUIDELINES behind a HC. The way things are being handled right now is honestly just ridiculous.

We have these mods just throwing violations left and right and its pretty crazy if you go back and look at some reports. Its like they are just trying to fly though the reports to get them done and see one or two words and say 'HATE COMMENT!' not looking at the context, not looking at really anything.

It seems most of you moderators are new or maybe not as involved, and I know its probably not a fun job..and a lot people may not like you. The RESPONSIBILITY of a moderator is to maintain a FAIR and enjoyable experience..im rambling..but it is not fair to any player to have these vague descriptions of what someone may think a HATE COMMENT is. This is just bad moderation, bad moderation drives away new players which hurts the site..obviously.

I'm just maybe trying to provoke some thought, sorry if you feel I'm being to harsh...but this is the complaint thread after all. I'm sure you moderators are good people, and have common sense. I'm sure you know mafia is a competitive game, and people may get frustrated from time to time. Ultimately its you guys who enforce the rules...this is simply a rant. In my opinion, it would just be nice to see some leniency in moderation differentiating actual HATE/DEMEANING SPEECH from SWEARING.

Feel free to state your opinion, but really the big thing I'm trying to get at is fair moderation..and I think the HC topic is one that is LONG past due to being addressed for everyones sake.

Mods shouldn't be allowed to "neg" stuff just because they personally don't agree with the viewpoint on the mod account.

Most trauma therapy involves visualization of the event, personally I prefer just reliving it in nightmares and drinking myself to death.

me too.

im genuinely confused, movies have the trigger warning you want and you still complain

i think theres some confusion. i dont think anyone was complaining about the warnings on movies

Slowbro says

i haven't seen any warning for it anywhere on the internet and witnessed it first hand, so do not see the hateful eight if you are sensitive to any material regarding sexual assault.

and too bad slowbro, youre in a thread taking the high road on trigger wa rnings when you have absolutely no idea what youre talking about or what you want. and youre a mod

I think that hiding from the things that make you uncomfortable can be bad in a way too. Exposure to different things can make you stronger if you were to experience it for real. You know?

people who experience trauma already have experienced it for real

I'm not talking about that experience. I'm talking about the "I just saw a movie scene of sexual assault and now I can't handle myself" experience. If you were to therapeutically expose yourself in minimal amounts then it could help later. I'm not saying it would definitely work though.

"therapeutically exposing" yourself as a cure, if that even does work, would have to be under controlled environments. someone who is recovering from an eating disorder being bombarded with images of it isn't helping. trauma is mental and somebody doesn't get over it until he can and wants to get over it. trigger warnings allow that person to shelter himself until he is ready to seek help, recover, etc.

I probably don't. I maybe do. Who knows. I'm just giving you guys a hard time for the sake of learning. I am a Psychologist in the making, after all. haha.

this is a good philosophy if you're trying to teach your kid how to bike, or something else like that. trying to desensitize someone through traumatizing him isn't effective therapy..
