Is this the type of thing that someone that's a mentor should be saying to anyone?

realistically though, idk how to resolve the problem. For some people, certain lynches will be obvious while to other people, other lynches will seem obvious. This is why EM is an inherently vicious game, it's why there needs to be a Report system. I can't say that I'm free from my lampoon as I actually do many of the same actions that I have been criticizing; however, the most important thing is to just move on, immediately after a game has concluded and to work together to encourage more people to formulate their own reads and become a better player.
As for my personal play, I tunnel and that is a huge fault in my town game. But from a completely nonpartisan viewpoint, I will get maf more often than not. Of course, I will work on reforming my game so that I tunnel less and make better reads. My goal is to become a good player. I don't think I'm there yet but this type of backlash is not going to spur me forward.
As for not acknowledging when mafia play well, when there's 1 mafia left and town has ml and I'm hardpushing mafia, them winning from there isn't because they played well. It's because either (for some bizarre reason) my logic is terrible, or because town is full of worthless scrubs.
Tl;Dr if my behaviour makes you not come back to comp and you find that as an issue, then you obviously thought I was kidding when I told you that you shouldn't be playing gold hearts?
You talk about me not respecting new players: that's invalid, in the same game I expounded upon the joys of playing with vitacon.
As for you, from what I've seen of your play, I don't really want you in competitive? I like to play mafia as a relaxing experience with logical arguments and reasoning flying back and fourth. Your take on the lylo was 'cross I'm gonna hammer wrong'.

and that's what should be changed. Say whatever you need to say in game, use ATE, whatever. but after the game make amends, it's over and cannot be changed. I'll use the game to learn from it.
But I cannot say that that is the most common reaction. I had tried Comp 1 year ago and failed miserably - I was way in over my head and tbh, did not really understand much about the game. I was deterred from playing Comp games and it is not until recently that I tried again.
I'm sure that there is a throng of players who may benefit from playing Comp who refuse to play golden hearts because of the people in it.
CCCA, you hammered me and then hammered my townread in a 2 minute period after I performed what would've been ritual suicide as mafia. I'm not blaming you for some gy vision shenanigans, I'm blaming you (and partially darleton) for screwing up something which was super close to autowin. I could've been nicer about the way I said it, but I'm going to be honest here: if you want me to be sympathetic to your circumstances, then think through your actions a little longer. If you speedvote your reads and get what I perceive to be an obvious Lynch wrong, then I'm going to assume you have the IQ of a common garden implement. Cheers.
we should call it the competitive lobby and hold competitions every 10 days, only the best, top tier players who have over 1500 points should be allowed into it.
it's time we create a lobby that's exclusive to high tier players such as myself. thanks

Yes ATE has a time and place, I employ ATE in my games and I even use the phrase "you're bad" to deter votes. However, I am much less likely to say something like that to newer players because of how much it affects their psyche.
If their confidence is shattered because they made the wrong read, they're more likely to be deterred from EM and less likely to formulate their own reads which is the core of EM. Everyone will have different trs and srs and I think it's time that we start encouraging people to make their own reads instead of just sheeping the most prominent players in the table.
I think that all players in Comp have a certain superiority complex (I have been developing this as well tbh) but it's time that we reformed our ways. This can only happen if we first realize that we all have faults and it's not just others.
People owning up to their mistakes goes far past just mafia I'm afraid.

Actually, I can easily read someone based on why and when he said "You're bad" or something like that, it kind of becomes obvious. Also, I hate to say this: Even though I hate AtE so much, but it sometimes makes games easier.

I would also like to clarify that I am not generalizing all older players as possessing this quality; I think that most players are quite nice and willing to help others (of course, the Mentor program exemplifies this). However, there is a select group of individuals (most of whom ARE older players) who are exclusive in Comp games. I mean, there's a reason why you get the same players over and over again in Comp. How many times have you seen a newer player get reported in Comp for botching an "obvious" lynch?

Yes but a common tactic employed by older players is ATE where they will say things such as "You're bad" or "Don't ever play with me again." How are newer players supposed to assert their reads in the face of this type of opposition?
I saw 2 paths: either take their comments and sheep the older players or assert myself and to make my own reads. I chose the latter and I do not regret it; sometimes my reads are right, sometimes my reads are off. The thing that frustrates me is that older players view themselves as being infallible and almost always having the superior read to the newer players when that is not always the case (although it can be true in many cases).
Did I make a bad hammer? Yes. Did Mura make a bad hammer? Yes. I'm not claiming that I'm a better player than Mura or any older player; in fact, I think I have much to learn. The difference is that players like Mura refuse to ever believe that they made a mistake.

THIS.
Mafia rarely get kudos, or praises for their play.
one of the greatest things about this site is the fact that town is never ever willing to admit they were just simply outplayed by mafia.
Instead they play the blame game

I personally don't have anything against new players in Competitive, but if they're going to be aholes in games and think they're better then too bad.

I think it's funny how hypocritical every player is on this site. From the graveyard, everything seems obvious when you actually know who mafia is. Perhaps more frustrating and disgusting is the fact that people who mishammer choose to ignore their own faults and instead blame it on other people or external factors.
Yes, I mishammered on the last day but I got maf d1. It's easy for Mura to say all those comments from the graveyard but mura refuses to acknowledge that she lead a lynch on gov d1 and ultimately mishammered even worse than I did. Well it was obvious to me that she was hammering gov but of course, only her opinion matters because quote on quote "she has 3 more trophies than I do." I think it's funny how she will say I'm dodgeworthy when we've only played 3 games: (1 game I lead lynch on her, another I got both maf as town, and this recent game).
If you really want Epicmafia to prosper, you are going to have to let go of your elitist and arrogant attitudes. There is a small group of select individuals who think they are entitled to do anything and say anything just because they have been playing on this site for 3+ years. There is so much hatred to newer Comp players which can be seen from the rabid witch hunt pastebinning (no person is willing to believe that a new player can do well in Comp) going on right now and the amount of red heart players who are turned off from playing in Comp.
