I was introduced to EM by friends and ended up being one of those people who play locked anon games in sandbox and never talk to anyone. Ever. lol

Then I discovered Training Lobby and this fun thing called Ranked/Comp. I hung out there for a while and after being stressed by rule changes I rediscovered Sandbox, made friends and never looked back!

i discovered dangan mafia in may 2013 through tumblr, and was pretty much obsessed until april 2014 when i gave up with the community due to petty bullying through skype chats, mods ignoring their friends bullying minors and whenever i complained about dangan mafia on tumblr the mods would stalk my account and send me messages... it was weird.

anyway. dangan mafia had a really bad view on sandbox, and i was curious enough to want to play... i joined the community, and found that it was so much nicer than dang maf. it was so much more relaxed and i could enjoy mafia games without the fear of being talked about on skype or without somehow messing up and getting a vio for GT.

i was able to make friends i can trust in sandbox, which is something nearly impossible to do in dangan mafia, so i stuck around.

Future me hates epicmafia. It took up so much of my life that I decided to go back in time and destroy the game before it is created. So ,using an extra-dimensional epicmafia role called the Time Traveler, I traveled back in time to Moscow State University in 1986.

I attempted to murder Дми́трий Давы́дов (Dmitriy Davydov), mafia's creator only to discover that I had arrived to late. The party game had spread to other people playing it in small groups. I attempted to time travel farther back, but since the Time Traveler role hadn't been invented yet, its powers no longer worked. I was stuck in 1986.

I traveled through Europe and got on a boat to America. I realized the only way to get back to my time, 2055, was to speed up the process of epicmafia.com being created

I spent the next decade learning code. I found the young boy that would be named lucid. I got a job as a teacher at his high school and taught him to code and subtly tried to put the idea of creating a website in his head.

This is how I found epicmafia. This is how I came to indirectly create the very thing I hated. A part of me is proud of causing epicmafia.com. Another part of me is still patiently waiting for the Time Traveler role to be created so I can finally return home.

One day(This year), I searched "Mafia game" and found EpicMafia. The end.

Ya I googled it early 2011, just mafia party game, and this was one of the top picks. The answer to your question on everyone going on Hiatus, I think there's always a steady stream of people, we just don't seem to care. You notice who is absent more then the people joining in I guess.
