Suggestion:Mod election system

deletedalmost 10 years

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

Your timezone:

Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)

Age:(how old are you in real life)

HEY LOOK A TEMPLATE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

edit: wait i can't tell which votes on this post are ironic and which ones aren't lmfao

why dont we just have only application-necessary helper mods who can work their way up ( time limit ) to a legitimate moderator-- these would more have to be managing the communities and comments rather than violations, rules, etc

and then the actual moderators are listed back and forth between community and mods, giving in a pool which mods cut down if they don't fit requirements etc until the last majority wins vote for the people left

...oh, wait, we can't do that because in a few days no one will care this much. no one will ever care this much. even voting akin to democracy won't work, because EM changes and i highly doubt we'll have the above system or your ideal system working, ever.

I think, the fact that everything happens behind closed doors irritates people. Maybe if the admin and his mod team would share with the community the reasons why they picked someone as a moderator would be helpful.

if you want to know, just ask

i just hope you take the opportunity to push for someone you really think would do a good job instead of trying to promote yourself because you want to be a mod.

Democracy doesn't work in the US, and it won't work here either.

I feel like this describes perfectly what i think about you

Trash mods elected by handing out friendship bracelets would just cause more work for the mods who know what they're doing.

I was speaking of the process overall - our thought process behind selecting moderators. We also get several moderator applications a day/week. Outing that information about someone wanting to be a mod would defeat the purpose of us asking people to PM us for consideration, you know? I agree that saying something could be helpful for the candidate applying.

Make all mods anonymous, and make night actions/conversations unavailable for graveyard to read in comp games.

I honestly think that if we explained our due process to selecting moderators that it would clear up any misconceptions about the "corruption".

Yes, that's what you should do in my opinion. Let the community know why you picked a person over another. + It would be really nice if you'd let the persons who applied know that they are not going to be picked soon.

this has been suggested a plethora of times before and it's always been a stupid idea

polls can be rigged, but if you guys want to back a candidate that you really think would do a good job, feel free and i'll take it heavily into consideration.

Speaking of this, I'd like to nominate roadman. I have full confidence in him doing a spectacular job as a moderator.

We put them in a moderator thread and as long as the thread is still there it's forever.

Oh so when that one site thing happened where every topic had to be deleted, my friends app went with it? That explains a lot I should let them know about that lol
