Suggestion:Mod election system

deletedalmost 10 years

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

Your timezone:

Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)

Age:(how old are you in real life)

at the end of every month have the lowest rated moderator go up in a poll against the most suggested player. whoever wins the poll gets to be a mod. gladiatmod.

Basic structure of mod election system:

- Particular # of mods at a given time
- Mod prerequisites (account age, point minimum, no significant vios, etc)
- Mod term length: (please suggest ideas)
- No limit on number of mod terms
- During election time, mod applications following a precise format are to be sent to the site admin (existing mods wishing to run for another term must do this as well)
- The admin and current mod team examine the mod apps and discard only applicants who don't meet the mod prerequisites .
- Once a list of qualified mod applicants is ready, they should be inserted into a voting app
- The voting app will present the every candidate's name and mod application in a random order
- The voting system will be based on the Borda Count System
- Votes are limited to main accounts of a certain age and point amount, and only one vote per account linked by IP

Please suggest modifications, specifications, or another system all together.

what's wrong with gold heart games requiring 2 ppl @vash?

also - if you're building something like this into the report system, you should revamp the whole system so that moderators aren't required to open 5ish tabs per report they deal with

lucid pls make it so i dont have to toggle music off every time i open my browser n come on the site

also, the restriction shouldn't exist on moderator reports either, since a mod can spot a rule break [such as x rated content] and file the report without having to hassle someone else about it. if the restriction applies to mods then they'll just have to show other mods to agree to it anyway

And when a player applies for mod their current vio's should be stated to with a link to the game

Competitive game vios - 1 person files report

Community vios - 1 person files report

Everything else - 2 people req (can be as simple as someone from the game has to check the report and state they are seconding the motion)

also, i think reports need some sort of voting system so that only reports that get a certain threshold of votes even needs to be operated on by mods

works for games but not for single cases such as singular harassment victims

put up a point restriction for giving ratings on moderators and nominating new ones (something high like 10000 points)

points =/= quality of a mod...

the point is to filter out the abc alts

This way the cheaters will get modded, because they have the most friends and the most hidden accounts to vote. The current method is fine. Sims is a great admin, and he knows what he needs. If he wants someone in his team then he should have it. He knows what things should happen.

i think we should revisit the in-game smiley face emote issue.

this is probably the biggest problem with the site rn tbqh.

on a serious note, lucid, is there any way we can have our preferences saved when we join games? i have to toggle off music every time i come on the site on browser opening

the easiest way is a window of about a week before the end of the month when people can rate the moderators and for those with bad ratings for either inactivity, toxic personality, or bad decision making, suggest candidates for replacement. people then vote on the candidates within this week. the system automatically chooses those who are highest voted.

Or remove the time limit and then let the admins/mods decides who is a good pick and if its auctally neefed
almost 10 years
also, even if you build this system, it really shouldn't be automatic. the person in the admin position, in theory, should be trustworthy with these kind of decisions (which is what he is, right now) because there's no machine or system in the world that could analyse the subjective adjective that is "moderator quality"

i can understand community suggesting mods every so often, but using a community voting system will just bring in popular users instead of what could be good mod choices. also, having an automated system that can (and will) be abused by the community to remove mods is a bad idea imo

we have an admin who is unbiased and will remove mods if they are not up to scratch

you'd only need to boot mods if the team's full up. right now, the current moderators are having trouble picking up new mods to help out with the vote count. there's just not enough quality picks at the current time to fill the slots. starting to boot people through votes will pretty much cork the report system

under the new system they will get automatically picked and the mods won't have any say in it. problem solved!

how about having the admin role / senior mods (~2 or 3?) in place through application, as a checks-and-balance if u will, so that in case of a bad popular candidate (and continued support despite bad behavior), there is a security measure?
