Hello Sandboxers. Lucid is interested in making new roles, and I know you guys have a bunch of good ideas, so what I'd like to do is get a list of all of the best ideas in this thread and have a poll that you guys can vote on for lucid to make.
On an unrelated note, if you guys know of any bugs with existing roles, please PM me so I can test it out and forward it to lucid so they can get fixed

Centaur ====== -Is killer+bleeder combined -third party -same win condition as killer
This could actually be a really interesting 3rd party role, though I make it so that the lovers retain their original winning objectives, regardless of their love. Cupid would act as a match maker and pair two people at the beginning of the game so that if one dies, the other also dies, with Cupid’s winning objective being to keep both of them alive.
- If Cupid pairs two town, then it’s advantageous for mafia to try to kill one of them.
- If Cupid pairs two mafia, then it’s advantageous for town to try to lynch one of them.
- If Cupid pairs a villager and a mafia, then it leads to a scenario where the villager eventually needs to kill their lover (basically becoming a sacrifice) in order to win.
And all of this would work super well because the lovers won’t necessarily know which side their lover is on. The lovers also wouldn’t want to talk openly about their love because it could potentially put a huge target on their backs, while at the same time they would be trying to figure out what their lover’s true alignment is. And if there are whispers in the setup, the lovers can lie to each other about their roles/alignments in order to get the other to trust them.
Meanwhile Cupid is stuck in the middle, trying to keep them alive til the end of the game in order to win.
- Chooses two players to fall in love night one. - The two chosen players receive a message telling them who they’ve been matched up with. - The two chosen players retain their roles and winning objectives. - If one of the chosen players dies, the other dies as well. - Wins if both the chosen players are alive at the end of the game.
-Doesn't start with any powers -When the first town-aligned player that isn't a villager dies, the backup inherits their role -Aligned to the town
Babysitter
-Can visit a player at night to protect them -If the Babysitter is killed that night, their target also dies -Aligned to the town
Hider
-Targets someone at night to hide behind -Everyone who tries to target a hiding hider fails, even hookers and strongmen -Gets shot if the hider's target isn't town -Gets killed if the hider's target is killed that night
Veteran
-Can arm himself once during the game -If killed during that night, the attacker dies too
It's broken in setups with guns and wills as well, and of course in setups with too few people.
Also, not sure who the real idiot here is, but I'm pretty sure suggesting alternative mechanics for this role (such as having the mafia kill the role instead) counts as balancing. So if you want to actually balance this role, maybe you should calm down and stop deterring people from "arguing" when they post their balancing suggestions.
That was the problem until I solved it with a day-time meeting.
It's only broken in whisper setups, but so is Disguiser. You just don't use it in those setups. Alternately, BAN it from setups with whisper when creating setups. "You have a forbidden role!"
Mafia are killing civilian. They don't want to kill Seer because then they lose their insta-win condition.
Not sure why you idiots are arguing it it's a role lucid has wanted for the duration of this thread, we're just trying to balance it.
If the mafia are actively trying to guess the civilian, and therefore kill the civilian, then there is nothing the civilian can do except receive protection from another role, which the mafia would then have to kill first.

it's the same killing that guessing. Mafia has to guess who the civilian is, in other games mafia has to guess who the pr's is/are. It's the same just in the day.
But the problem with that is that if there is a clear, the seer can just tell the clear who the mafia are and then get killed for a secured town win every time.
They're entirely different roles for entirely different types of games the hell are you smoking

mafia wins if civilian is killed, most setups have 1 or 2 civilians, what's the point of seer? mafia has to guess who the civilian is it's not like there's a neon sign saying civilian
