Hello Sandboxers. Lucid is interested in making new roles, and I know you guys have a bunch of good ideas, so what I'd like to do is get a list of all of the best ideas in this thread and have a poll that you guys can vote on for lucid to make.
On an unrelated note, if you guys know of any bugs with existing roles, please PM me so I can test it out and forward it to lucid so they can get fixed

So let’s say that this role is in play, there is another mafia that has recently been lynched and is now in the graveyard, and there’s still a cop and a doc alive. Even though the night meetings for the doc/cop are anonymous, the deceased mafia member can relay who the doc is choosing to save/who the cop is choosing to investigate. The first advantage to this is that the Necromancer can avoid attempting to kill anyone that the doc saves and the Necromancer can get a heads up if they’re being investigated. The second advantage to this would be that through process of elimination, the Necromancer and the deceased mafia member can work together to determine who the doc and cop are (the doc can’t save himself, therefore the doc isn’t anyone that they’re attempting to save, etc). And as powerful as this sounds, the Necromancer is essentially powerless until one of their partners dies, and even then, any town that are also in the graveyard can attempt to feed the Necromancer false information if a code isn’t set up. I think it sort of balances itself out.

This role would give players something to do even after they die, so that they aren’t just left out and forced to watch the game unfold without them (if they choose to stick around). It's basically a mix between the spy/agent + invisible man, in the sense that the Necromancer would be able to read messages from their deceased partners in order to determine what actions the other power roles in the game are doing every night. And because all text from the graveyard would be anonymous, the Necromancer won’t know whether the tips they’re getting are from the town or mafia, unless they develop a code to speak in that only other mafia members know to use.

Define: necromancey noun nec·ro·man·cy
the supposed practice of communicating with the dead, especially in order to predict the future.
Here is a potential game-changing role that has yet to be submitted under these mechanics.
Necromancer: - Can read all chat from players in the graveyard. - Messages read from the graveyard are anonymous to the Necromancer. - When the Necromancer is in play, all night meetings are anonymous to the graveyard. - Sided with the mafia.
i like the edits to make him more balanced. i have an idea that might seem really bad, but that i kind of like.
instead of becoming villager what if he became a templar? in setups without templar he'd basically be a blue, but this adds another level of usefulness in setups with templar.
The Gambler -3rd Party roll -Has to choose a player each night and guess if their alignment is town, village or 3rd party -if guesses correctly, recieves a gun the next day -if guesses wrong, gets revelaed the next day -can side with mafia
Super Hero -Initially appears as village to self and cops -Can not be killed -If targeted for kill in day or night, Super Hero is revealed -After being revealed, must select one player at night -If player is sided with the village, Super Hero dies -If player is not sided with the village, selected player dies

What happened to the Dice Roller/ Gambler guy? He was really creative and cool and I loved him and if you disappoint me like I disappoint my parents I'll cry
Philosopher - Ponders reality every night unless visited - After three uninterrupted nights postulating existence realizes all effort is vain, all order is an illusion, and nobody will ever truly taste victory in this uncaring reality - Sided with third party but wins with the village
Streaker -Every night visits someone. -That person and anyone who visits him will be blinded. -Blind people cannot see chat or votes. -Streaker will be roleblocked if visited by a cop. -Does not attend meetings. -Sided with the mafia.
Wannabe -Third party -Gets paired up with a town pr the wannabe will get the same actions as the pr but has 50% of failing -Wins if the wannabe did 3 succesfull actions in a row nling wont break the streak of succesfull actions -wins with town but receiving less points
Philosopher - Ponders reality every night unless visited - After three uninterrupted nights postulating existence realizes all effort is vain, all order is an illusion, and nobody will ever truly taste victory in this uncaring reality - Sided with third party but wins with the village
This is the first useful thing you have contributed to the site.

i didn't see this role until now since it's just a link but i think it's a neat idea, it tempts the user with a balance between having an item to use and jeopardizing their win
im commenting on it here instead of the role page because i cant comment on the role page
thank you very much! although i guess they could use the items they receive? i need to think this through.

gun revealer Picks a player at night. If this player has/receives a gun and he and shoots, it will show his name. ∟ Deputy gun will reveal, Illusionist will reveal himself... Sided with the village.
revising roles is fun im going to revise this role too
Revealer - Picks a player at night - Any gun shot by that person reveals their name - If that person gives items, their name will be revealed to their recipient
In addition to sabotaging illusionist and revealing snipers (and deputies), this role could be used to sniff out associates and fabricators, although used incorrectly (along with a clumsy item giver) could tip off mafia

Old Butler: ============ - Can choose one player to switch identity with each night (become that person's role and username) - That person becomes Old Butler with butler's username - Nothing can prevent the identity switch - Old Butler cannot win ============
Handy Man - Town-Sided - When given a fabricated or tampered item will swap it to operate in a town-sided fashion. - When given cult robes will swap to mason robes. - Fabbed items will no longer be fabbed. - Associate's gun will kill mafia. - Bombs and dolls will be de-fused/destroyed.
I'll take any feedback.
(but really we should be implementing horse)
two points for fab guns is redundant removing bomb/doll altogether is just unfair for cg/anarchist
i have a less overpowered revision
Handy Man - Fixes sabotaged guns (sab/fab/asso) - 50% chance to defuse bombs before they explode - When culted, becomes a villager instead (can be culted again)
now it can do a variety of things, but none are particularly overpowered. if there happens to be a sabbed gun, he can fix it. if there happens to be a bomb, he may be able to defuse it. if there happens to be a cult, he can stall them. a handy man.
i understand the point of cult -> mason, but still, it seems to be slightly off (given that a cult robe comes with a role change, not just an extra item)
there is no cult robe, only a robe
i don't think the robe is even a real item, it's just attached to the roles
