Blacklisting fancy pants is a freaking awesome step that you just took, mods. However, classic mafia is mechanically the exact same setup
Please please follow through with the awesome decision you have partially made and destroy the scourge that has plagued us for years instead of just one head of the hydra. Compared to what was expected, fancy pants has died with very little commotion.

Must lynch would probably be fine

so are you saying there's absolutely 0 reads that go into the games ?

that's a stretch. only a few can be autowin N1 and others aren't as heavily impacted because a lot of comp setups have MLs too.

u guys should really consider what you're arguing lol we might aswell just call this whole website a coinflip if you're basing a setup being a coinflip off of "The night 1 kill greatly affects the outcome of the game "
republic, you don't understand because you've been conditioned to believing that NLing in day 1 of classic is correct. --------------------
the first step to take is realising that that is incorrect. for town's best chances to win, cop should out on day 1, all the time. -------------------
next is to learn that mafia's optimal play is then to cc cop on day 1. if cop is left uncc'd, town basically wins the game. -----------------
because cop is cc'd, town's optimal play is then to lynch between the cc's. on day 1. not NL. ------------------------
assuming that mafia doesn't screw up, then both cop claims have relatively even footing, so the lynch is a 50/50 chance (a coinflip) --------------------------
what happens for the rest of the game is defined by the town's lynch. if they lynch the cop, then mafia are in autowin if they dodge the doc's save. if they lynch the mafia, town are in autowin if the doc dodges the mafia's kill. -----------------------------
the only choice town really has to make is the choice between cops. after that, the game is decided already. hence, the coinflip chance between cops is the coinflip chance for the whole game, therefore classic mafia is a coinflip.

I'm saying it is a coinflip because if both parties play optimally (which they sometimes do not because people who play these games are freaking idiots, explaining the margin of error) it is exactly a 50/50 shot.

Republic, he's saying it's a coinflip because the N1 kill very greatly affects the outcome of the game. A more "balanced" setup wouldn't be so deeply impacted by whatever role is killed N1.
isn't that the same with like, every mafia set up?

Classic mafia is the one and only tumor setup left standing. Finish the job,

that's the case with every single competitive setup aswell

LMAO this republic guy is hilarious. I'm not going to explain why he is stupid to him I'm just going to let him keep flopping around
Classic mafia is literally like flipping a coin except mafia themed

wait did this guy just call chess a coin flip? That's the stupidest thing I've hear all year
holy f#cks I said by the same logic chess would be a coinflip because it has a 50/50 outcome. You totally disregard that people actually have to play, get involved, or at least be involved enough to keep the game ranked before the outcome can be counted into the win percentages.
That isn't a coinflip, that's a GAME. I'm done talking with you you make no sense
RepubIic2m 29s just because there is roughly a 50/50 outcome does NOT make it an outcome. By the same logic, you are calling Chess a coinflip, because it's usually 50/50 outcome as well.
You can certainly pretend that it is a game if you want, in the same way a child flailing his arms around might pretend that he is a dragon

i thought u meant a setup where its a 50/50 chance for either alignment to win. what youre looking for isnt possible.
