How many people

deletedover 9 years

on the mentor page are actually learning anything?

How hard would it be to fix the mentor program completely, I remember when Shivv - arguably one of the best players wanted to be a mentor attempted for months to become a mentor and no one gave him the time of day.

Why have a program if it's not being incorporated into the site to do what it's suppose to do? I literally just actually looked at the mentor page and I see maybe 1 or 2 mentors who actually don't suck at the game, the mentees are literally all the same anime bullSh** avi, what the hell how does no one notice the site literally sucks because no one is teaching the new players how to progress from Fancy Pants > other setups,

The so-called 'veterans' (if you're generous and include EM 2.0 in this) who are still around are just about limited to:

Me
UniversalStudios
girallon
Anthony
mangofruit
BillStickers
Shacky
Slow
NOWN11111
Orly/VashTheStampede
Sonseray?
Kyle

Throw in the first year of 3.0 and you can add Retti, Connor, Giga, maymay, and a few others.

This is hardly the foundation to build a new Competitive community on.

The old players are too long gone for that.

Everyone focuses on the veteran players, but what about new players that are coming from behind, eager to improve and get just as good as the top players? :doge:

I'm responding solely to the point that it would lure old players back into playing.

Correct. There's too much underlying respect given to people who have had an account on this website for [x] amount of years. Honestly, it manifests throughout these forums and it's pretty stupid.

They're really not gonna be too concerned about their stats then.

Seriously if the people playing FP didn't suck, it'd be over 60% townsided. I think we should just comp FP for 3 rounds and see where it actually ends up.

You probably ask whoever you're banging to tell you how much FP sucks to maintain an erection.

Loads of old players would come back if they heard that EM was reset to 'Round 1', as they'd want to get the first trophy available. Some of those would choose to stay as a result.

I really doubt that. Some of them would be pissed that their old stats/trophies are gone, but that's about it.

The old players either migrated to other sites that do Mafia better, or stopped playing Mafia altogether.

Whenever a ladder resets on a computer game, I either partake in it or at least consider it. I really have no bad feelings towards what would have been discarded in the process. People enjoy a clean slate because revitalisation comes with it.

Doubt it. Most old players aren't here because they've grown up and gotten a life, not because of the community or (lack of) trophies or challenges.

I really doubt that those complaints would last too long.
over 9 years
I don't think so, most of players wouldn't see the difference but complain about the reset of their stats.

Mentorship won't fix comp. Deleting everything and everyone and resetting the entire site; banning the entire old community, is about the only thing that would fix Comp.

I agree that a full reset would be one of the most positive ways to approach things. Even to go as far as to call the round that would succeed this reset, 'Round 1'.

Having a mentor/mentee program that's ACTUALLY useful would encourage a level of play that's worthy of joining a table for. I used to love in-depth wifoms which are just not possible anymore. Sure it may ostracise some people from the competition, but it would help get things back on track.

@Harrold: Yeah but we can't force people to join the program just to have a good competition. Most people on the site aren't in the program and therefore have no real interest of being in it. Sacrificing the already fragile-ish competition in attempt to boost involvement in a program that is currently slightly lacking isn't the right way to go about things in my opinion.

I both disagree and agree with you. It seems a bit too intrusive and risky to make such a big adjustment, but at the same time it's quite obvious that things aren't quite right. I seldom play any mafia anymore, and I haven't really since Competitive Lobby, but when I do I just cringe watching the more experienced players run rings around the newer players. Unless you're like pranay, soda, zovea or whoever, then there's really no satisfaction in running anymore. Likewise, for the newer players, they're probably sick of being called x, y and z (see other active thread right now), for not being able to perform as well as they'd like to.

People will complain about not being able to join the competition due to the sole fact that they are not in the program, and there will be backlash from it as well
