blinder also does what they described; makes all text anonymous. or at least i'm pretty sure it did last time i used it.
edit: just checked, yeah it does still do that. it's just not in the role descriptions.
I meant it encourages ISP for the fiddled player. It essentially removes them from the game for the biggest discussion period, which is completely unfair. What would be better is if Fiddler anonymised all communications for one person. So like Lightkeeper, but targeted. Meaning I would see everyone chatting, but without names.
I'm not such a big fan of YYC but this setup doesn't encourage ISP. Everybody talks in this setup, way more than setups where prs are defined at the beginning of the game such as VDLI. I kinda agree with you when it's on sheriff's reliability but once again like every single setup with clears. People are just lazy when they don't decide, and most of setups are townsided if town isn't dumb...
The only thing I can't disagree is the potential autowin D1. But mafia can still win this with a blue kill...
1. It encourages ISP because the first day lasts forever, but one player can't see it. Even blues get to see the day at least.
2. Fiddler removes the first day even once you're on day 2. It means you can't look back. It's a gimmick role. This discourages scumhunting!
3. This report which someone posted in the forums: https://epicmafia.com/report/134304 - it effectively encourages new players to spam their way through the game, rather than helping them learn to scumhunt and read people.
4. The fact that town usually only wins if the Sheriff isn't a complete numbskull. The entire setup is a coin flip of Sheriff's intelligence.

so even though you say fiddler is inherently flawed, the setup is quite townsided. there are ways to communicate when someone is fiddled. i won't complain too much but i still think the whiny babies got the better of you all and you decomped it.

It's an inherently flawed setup with a flawed role that inhibits competitive play. Remake it without the fiddler if you want and it'll be less of a town pointfarm. Win-win.
You can also still play red hearts of it if you please.
