That's actually not what happened at all. The problem has always been that people can get simple points by using CM/FP as a vote simulator instead of actually playing this game. Also the overuse of those setups made it so that comp setups have to have both a ml and a clear for a CM/FP player to stand a chance in it which causes to the meta to become stagnant which causes the comp players to post in the forums over playing games.

You know like two years ago it was always classic mafia, then i started spamming fancy pants and it caught on. Now i have three trophies, and hundreds of fancy/classic under my belt. I feel very accomplished

Having tiered lobbies supports an elitist society which is not advisable for having a constant flow of new users. Less users == less money for lucid. It will cause more harm than good.

really though, you don't have to like Fancy Pants but at worst you need to see it as a necessary evil. I'm pretty sure those "FP farmers" you hate so much make up the majority of the userbase and therefore the majority of the ad revenue...

You don't see the logic in wanting to unburden comp games from being buried by FP games? Do you realize how many games it takes to bury an active game?

I never thought we'd come back to an era where a game that close to filling had to be remade because "we're no longer on the first page".

Don't bring comp back, make pointfarm lobby instead and just move all the FP and jail/spy players there.

I bet the same wouldn't be said if the lobbies weren't ever merged in the same span of time

just comp fancy pants. Else they will never run for the trophy. Once you comp fancy pants, they will run for the trophy and once they think they can win, they will play other competitive setups as well.

With the pretty large amount of new competitive mafia players that would've probably been too intimidated to join comp lobby, I'd say they've been merged perfectly well.

They're not "properly merged" unless the goal of merging was the drown out competition with Fancy Pants.

It's not coming back, it took far too much time to get the subcommunities properly merged together and there's no pressing reason to undo all that

It wouldn't be if people were smart enough to pay attention and learn about the people they're playing against, something you're not going to get in 474 games of Fancy Pants, 217 games of Cry and Spy, or 107 games of Classic Mafia.

If your comp games don't fill in this lobby full of people how do you expect them to fill if we split the lobby and have even less people than the original comp lobby?
