Harrold - Girl Talk is a mashup artist who made the genre a bit more popular. The vast majority of his work can be summed up as really intricate electronic drum beats with rap lyrics played over splices of music across different genres.
Action Bronson is a NYC Queens based chef-turned-rapper. He's the most relevant local rapper for me, I think only De La Soul and Run DMC originated closer to my hometown. He gets compared to Ghostface Killah a lot.
The Big L / Jay Z freestyle is on point man, one of the best.
I actually came across the guitar sample that he used for this whilst going through some old records I buy from time to time from the 50p bin in the market. I've got it on my computer somewhere.
also the mashup with lil mama's lip gloss and metallica is to die for

Never actually heard of Girl Talk or Action Bronson.
I have a soft spot for Common - Be, too, as he was one of the first names I found when I started making my expedition in to conscious hip hop, along with this album.
I love Liquid Swords, man, it's such a good album. The loops are stunning and the beats in general are just so simple. The flow on the vocals is just like, super oldskool but bounces nicely. Living in the World Today is still a huge tune imo. I'm surprised that this is what got you in to Wu-Tang though. It was the other way round for me, man. When I was like 10 or 11, we had a little shop in Swansea market that sold Wu-Tang merchandise. I had absolutely no idea what it was but the logo just looked super appealing and inviting. Ended up getting The W on cassette and ended up listening to it all the time alongside some weird Michael Jackson compilation my dad put together that consisted of Who's Watching Me, Thriller, Beat It, Human Nature, Liberian Girl and some other stuff... Pretty sure Marvin Gaye was on the B side somewhere too with Sam Cooke - Wonderful World.
As for Kanye, I generally dislike anything he puts out except for his instrumentals, so even though that album may or may not be good, I have absolutely no idea. However, as you mentioned, Kanye dos act as a gateway for so many people to be introduced to the genre.
ultimately dude all the prep work like resume and LinkedIn is like putting on your best clothes for the discotech. You'll get their attention with your attire, but you need to have the right moves to hold it.
major lab projects, specifically those relevant to the areas you want to go into, are good to include. It'll show people what you have experience on and give them access to your work, which if good, could be a huge benefit for you.
yes, i put mine right under my name. make sure you make a good looking LinkedIn too that includes everything on and off your resume. LinkedIn should be like a full CV of everything you've done, while a resume should highlight everything relevant for the job you're applying for.
awesome, thanks dude. also i'm fairly new to LinkedIn, should I include major lab reports and such under projects, or would that be sort of overkill? I don't know how much to include/omit

ok follow up question, if you had to choose a full grown apex predator to chill with, which would it be? a small but fairly complete list can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apex_predator#Gallery for some reason great white sharks aren't included in that gallery but they are also apex predators

would you ever swim with sharks if you had the chance? (sharks that are fairly active; white tips, black tips, hammerheads, great whites, makos, bulls, etc)
I suck at shaving so i'd probably spill blood at some point which could end badly for me. I'll pass.
