No, I'm not claiming that. And I'm especially trying to make it clear that binge watching or edating etc. isn't causing depression just because it's correlated. It's really just more likely having depression would make those activities more appealing
Just because they are making each other happy doesn't mean they are incapable of being depressed at the same time. If they weren't "happy" and glad to be with the other person, they wouldn't be in it. But the distance is very likely to create some type of depression, I would say. I think it has a little to do with perception of control and when people don't have that perception, they are likely to be much more worried/depressed.
Couples who see each other rarely or do not know when they'll see each other again obviously have a much smaller perception of control than those who see each other regularly. :)
