I've only recently jumped into the non-main lobby part of EM and I see so many reports for cheating and talking of people doing so. How common is it? I see some peoples records are just ridiculous and I wonder how possible that even is when youre still so dependent on other people. Then i look at my record and cry. Every night. Pass the napkins please.

Quote for a new page. The competition isn't dead yet. In the round I won silver vexium, the three trophy winners were girallon myself and shacky. We've all been playing around as long as you.
If it were true that skype cheaters and meta abusers maintained a couple of the top slots every round then trophies would be worth more gotten genuinely, no? Because they're harder to get?
Ironically no, it's not. Most skypers get caught. See the thing about skype cheaters is they don't do it once. Once they've done it once they're addicted. Which means that they'll staticly become likelier to get caught as they continue going forward.

Pretty confident that most of the time, no one cheats. I think most of the people who try to cheat get caught, but of course a few slip through the cracks. I think the mods need to investigate all three trophy winners every round, no matter what.
You can win a trophy without cheating, but cheating is so easy on here these days (and little is done or even can be done to prevent it), it's easier to just skype and win.
I'm talking about -all- forms of cheating, including unstated meta and friendship pacts, which to me, ruin games and are a rather noticeable form of cheating/OGI.
What's more ridiculous is that you think current EM competition is worth trying to get a trophy in.
If you join games entirely at random, around 1 in every 4 comp/gold heart games you play will have some form of cheating.
That is my estimate, after regularly playing in the last 20 or so rounds.
It didn't always used to be so bad, but cheating has become practically acceptable meta for most people who join as friends in competitive games.
Trophies are meaningless on EM in its current era.
A good rule of thumb to work with to join good, non-rigged games is to avoid packs of players that know each other and consistently fill each other's games. Or, play with them until you notice strange behavior. Trust me, you can notice the oddities of cheaters if you're looking for it. However, getting evidence on them is sadly a whole different ball game.
Cheating actually doesn't happen that often. Cheating cases also cause a really small amount of drama if you /actually/ get onto them really fast, like I used to do as a mod.
You can pretty easily get good without cheating, all you have to do is play with better players and learn from them. Albeit that's not as easy as it was when I was learning to play, but still possible. Most people are pretty horrible when they first start though, so don't lose hope. n_n
I think there are a lot more isolated cheating instances than cheating for trophies

More people cheat than the average person would like to believe, I'm pretty sure. They just either don't get caught or are protected because of the people they know.
