Don't do it. I know this is dead hour and mods have already made the decision on whether or not to, but restarting the round is a bad idea. Who does it benefit? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only people it would benefit are Jericho and Riotkiller. Now, correct me if I'm wrong again, but I think Jericho would not run if manhunt was decomped (which it would be) and I don't think Riot would have the motivation of running another 10 days on Jan 2.0.
End this horrible round?

Given I only won two rounds ago, I'd undoubtedly have the motivation to run again because it's a nice distraction from how busy I am at work during December.
Frankly if the mods played with refunds a bit more to artificially set all the former runners to around about the same place (say, 1400 points) then I'd support that as a better alternative.
The round is basically over, if it can't be rolled back to before the refunds then just let it play out. If you reset the round the people who were screwed over by the refunds still have to play a whole new round and get nothing and all the players not damaged by the refund have to start over as well.
If you don't reset the round then the people who did nothing wrong still get their shot and some of the people effected like Hobbes and Glacial can still win, though some are unfortunately screwed.
Basically, the people who were screwed the most (Skillz, Jericho, Riotkiller) are screwed whether the round is reset or not. They either have to play an entire new round for another shot or have to win every single game with the hearts they have.
It's unfortunate but letting the round play out then going to the new one amounts to the same thing as resetting for most of these people at this point. If the ideal solution of rolling back to before the refund can't be done then letting the round play out hurts the least amount of people.
What really needs to be addressed is this exploit.
Yeah, that's a terrific point. Either way refunding allows someone to fix the round how they like or ruin it for everyone. Ruining it for everyone i think has negative long term effects since it makes it more discouraging for people to run again as opposed to the few affected.
It's just a matter of what you think is a better option, although personally I like neither if there's no long term solution.
But what if someone was helping someone win ? The links to be so the hacked mod to refund the games of the first player , so the second player to be first? This is also possible :/
it hurts everyone if it is reset, which although fair, it's not like the people who won their trophies will have won them illegitimately as a result of their games being cheated / thrown.
Yeah, no idea man. I am not much of a computer person.
this is true, however remember too that if the exploit that caused the refunds is used again, the round can be reset by someone outside the mod team on their whim, which isn't good.
I am ok with restarting the round :) People dont want it restarted because they gonna lose their places :P But if they did it once, they can do it again :P
if there was a finite number of rounds, then I could see more reason to reset. epicmafia has the joy of having a limitless number of rounds, so an individual round getting funky isn't the end of the world.
this is a really tough situation since by not resetting the round, we're telling the person who took advantage of the exploit that they can just refund games of people they don't like and the round will go on as normal.
If we do refund it, it's the same thing - enabling that person to refund one person's games to have it affect the whole round, leaving us in a perpetual limbo of the same round so long as the exploit isn't fixed, theoretically meaning whoever knows about the exploit can tactfully pick and choose who to make lose, which is really lame.
I think the best solution is to let the round play out, since at least refunds allow you to play your hearts again, rather than cheating which wouldn't get refunded (but negatively impacted you all the same)
Very tough call though, the real solution would be to reset it now and have lucid implement a check, but that may not happen so letting the round go on is probably the better way to handle this.
