Canadian-American Culinary Bridge

almost 11 years

I have been in many fights over cuisine from Canada and America, defending Canadian delicacies like poutine, maple syrup and macaroni and cheese (yes, the Italians used them together but Canada popularized it),but I have also been challenged to try some American foods. So, in an effort of goodwill, I will, for the first time in my life, eat the delicacy called a "McRib". Apparently it's a limited edition food, so that means it must be delicious. Stay tuned as I update this thread (with photos!) of my journey.

You can continue to make assumptions if that's what makes you happy.

I believe you just didn't get OP's joke to be honest.

I only read the first 3 lines of the OP to be honest.

I dunno how you can call any of this 'cuisine', it's all crap apart from maple syrup.

Eat something substantial.

Finally, it was time. I had waited long enough. I put the sandwich up to my lips, took a bite and swallowed. The taste was pure nirvana, and while the pork product was sliding down my throat, I let loose a facial expression of blissful harmony to match.

Thank you for joining me on my journey. Hopefully this will bridge relations between our two countries and help ease tensions to a close.

After removing the top bun, there was something there I was not expecting: bones! Weird seeing as my dog didn't seem to hit any while she was eating, but who am I to judge? Besides, I'm an ambassador to this country's cuisine, so I have to expect anything. I also took notice of the pickles, and while in Canada, the prospect of pickles on a BBQ sandwich doesn't sound appetizing in the slightest, here in America is seems like the opposite! When wil this zany ride ever end?

Just to prove how impartial I am, I decided to give the first few bites to an unbiased source: Boogie, my pet cocker spaniel.

Boogie, what's your verdict on the McRib?

Ahhh, just like a real Texan barbeque! Clearly the master chefs at McDonald's are trained in the art of barbeque.

Well...not really winning any points for aesthetics here. For such a limited-time thing, I was expecting special packaging, especially from such a high class establishment like McDonald's.
