Ok, I'll wait for Vancy's word

nah yin yang chaos is an easy setup to afk and requires virtually no effort, while manhunt has a really high point payout. comping jan just puts all the bad setups in one round

Most of the featured setups get played, yes. Even (and indeed especially) when they're compworthy setups.

That's good, I'm glad that I was able to get lucid to make it then. I like that Vancy's been using it to promote some older setups too that sort of fell by the wayside.

Should I comp Jan2 and retick the odds in our favor

I'd wait to see what Vancy decides about Manhunt and whether Fiddler is actually enabled in Main or not. I feel like the newer players are more inclined to play 2 maf setups (unless there's a gun).

I'm pretty sure VDLI will be played. Can't say the same for BL, but comping something else just spreads it even more.

jan 2 sucks though

It does. Desperate times need desperate measures (?)

I feel like comping two spectacular setups is a waste in a round with manhunt + yyc since they won't be played more than manhunt and yyc...

Although I agree with what bronto said, you can't expect complete stability in quality setups being comped. There's gonna be rounds where mech based setups as well as scumhunt reliant setups are comped. The user has complete freedom in what tables they want to join and what setups they want to play. if you would like to get better at the game, I would advise you to join the scumhunt setups and play with that crowd to get a better understanding of the game. At least that's what I did.

I agree, it's great that there are multiple setups comped at a time. It's just that more often than not, only a few fill and some setups don't get very many plays at all. Thankfully with Main Lobby, this has gotten a lot better than it used to be so I really can't complain.

Well there's always Featured Setups, Bronto.

I love featureds, I haven't been following closely at all - do they get much action?

ah yes, 450 points for a happy hour ranked win of manhunt

Ok so firstly, math is always right. That's kind of the point of math, Slow. Secondly, there are 3 minor caveats to the thingy I posted.

1) I don't think lucid has it coded so that join wins count as 0.5 of a win for both parties in the win statistics. That could skew it some like connor said, but it's not going to be all that important.

2) Setups which award a higher point average across all players, while technically fine if everyone is only playing for themselves, does slightly encourage cooperative play (cheating kinda sorta).

3) This is probably the biggest one: having a 50% win rate on average for a faction with a 25% win rate, while tremendously difficult, is a lot easier than having a 100% win rate on average for a faction with a 50% win rate. This really only matters at very high levels of play, but it does matter.

Apart from those 3 points, sorry but the model is pretty accurate. I don't think any of these things are worth blacklisting manhunt over tbh.

Lighten up a little, I don't think we can top the chaos caused by Hollywood Illusions. It'll be alright.

I will most certainly cling onto whatever hope this gives me. HI is the worst setup on epicmafia.com after all.

One question: Why...do people want bad players in competitive games? Why...not...just...make bad setups playable and you can get points, but not points to get into the comp games and weekly, mods can decide amongst themselves which setups are good for players to learn basic game play & advanced enough game plays for comp? That way...people are learning while earning points to get into comp? I don't know, just a sugesstion...???

Because competitive quality setups seldom fill in red hearts. The only solution at this point would be to blacklist the "training lobby" setups, but then you're alienating most of the site who come here to play that. Not everyone wants to go into comp, so they shouldn't be forced into it. The only way to learn to play competitive is by jumping in and sucking for a bit until you get the hang of it.

However, comp players should have the social responsibility to comp setups that are actually good and competitive since by winning you play a role in what everyone else has to deal with for the next 10 days.

If you want the community to be good, you need to comp good setups for newbies to get familiar with and learn on.

£20 the winners run on BL, VDLI or SKvsM anyway. Manhunt has too many random factors.

There's going to be a bunch of idiots who run on YYC because it's much faster and easier than those 3. As much as I dislike SK vs. Mafia, it's gameplay is leagues better than YYC.

What the hell is a Ying Yang Chaos anyhow... disgraceful

Yeah as I said YYC is trash but hey, can't have everything.
