Yeah, maybe next year, but probably not. Frat parties are cool, but they're not the only outlet. Every apartment here throws parties as well. I joined enough clubs that I go to as many events as pledges do basically haha. One of the THON org's I joined are comprised of the most approachable upperclassmen on campus lmao I love them, and they throw socials every week
Honestly, thats a completely acceptable alternative to rushing, and thats what i ended up doing last year. This year i thought about rushing as a sophomore but decided against it, like if you've got enough frat friends and enough friends who aren't, it works out in the end
Nerds and EM? Nah, lmao. I decided not to rush. The friend's I've already made aren't either and I joined a load of clubs, therefore, I'm already busy lol. I know people who are rushing, and I already get in through them. There's nothing wrong with it, but I've already committed time to other org's. Nothing wrong with greek tho. (:
Lets be real. Most people on here are nerds and only know what greek life is from movies or stereotypes. Yeah, it cost alot of money, but most of it goes for the meal plan, badass parties, and renting out bars, pregame beer, and if you have football at your school, tailgates. You aren't paying for friends, if someone doesn't like you then just aren't going to pretend to like you for the sake of the organization. I have never heard of anyone joining a fraternity or sorority then later on being like that was a bad idea. 99% of the time it has been positive. Looks good on resumes and greeks do more charity than anyone else. Also, it helps if you get on your "executive board" which is like president, VP, ect. Actually the homosexuality levels are growing everywhere after the release of Same Love by Macklemore and it's merely coincidential that any organization containing males will see a slight shift due to this phenomenon.
