It's not a bad idea! No one ever said it wasn't! What I'm saying is that you can't be mad at these new players for breaking a rule. Even if they did read the rules how much of that information do you think they'd be able to keep based on memory? It's a lot of information and I highly doubt that even if they read the rules they would have flawless game play.

did you not read what i said? i had a negative experience at first but stuck through it and learned.

but if there had been a clear rules apge, that i had been forced to read, then i woudlve known what is and isnt OK to do before having to learn it over the course of 50 or so games, and i wouldve had a much smoother experience..

ISP is probably the one violation you don't need to intentionally break, which is why you need 5 of them to be lobby banned.

Do you know those ToS' that come with every .exe file that has like all of those words that nobody ever wants to read and click 'I ACCEPT'? That is basically how the rules page is treated right now, and will continue to be treated.

if youre gonna play a game, dont you usually read the rules? like a board game, wouldnt you read the how to play section, even briefly?

I actually agree with everything you posted here except for the last part - I am more of a shoot first ask questions last kinda guy

slow, honestly, if you havent bothered to peak at the rules page by the time you have enough points to join the competition, thats not my fault, is it?

I've literally only once looked at the rules pages in the entirety of my stay at epicmafia as a normal user, and that was to argue with one of the mods.

Ideally, forcing people to read the rules is an okay idea. In practicality, people are going to either get put off or assume epicmafia.com is a very serious site for very serious people, which is the wrong impression we should be giving. And leniency with new users encourages people to stay.

When you joined EpicMafia, did you bother to go to the rules page and memorize every single scenario for every single violation? Don't tell me yes because I know you'd be lying. if a game is given a note it cant be refunded.

so someone can pretend to be new, gamethrow, and not get anything, and then the game cant be refunded.

that's really dumb in a competitive (gold heart) game.
