if the real motivation of hamas was to stop the fighting, they would have accepted at least one of the 3 ceasefires that were implemented last week. israel agreed to them all without hesitation. hamas accepted one, and within 2 hours had recommenced the bombing.
that doesn't sound like an organisation that wants to promote peace to me. it sounds like a terrorist organisation.
also if you want to start using propaganda (considering that one was from like 2000 onwards, which is mostly irrelevant) let's look at the number of innocent israeli civilians killed by terror attacks/bombers). and this is WITH israel's extreme defence measures.
let's try and make this as unbiased as possible. okay. so basically, if you know anything about israel or israeli defence, they literally pump their funds into bomb shelters and the iron dome, a missile system which shoots down the palestinian rockets. all israeli children are trained to run in 15 seconds to the nearest safe shelter. the death toll is extremely low BECAUSE they spend so much time and effort to PROTECT their civilians.
hamas have been SHOWN (i believe there is a photo or video clip of this?) to USE the civilians of gaza to shield themselves. they store their weapons in schools, hospitals, and civilian houses so that when israel retaliates with missiles, they result in killing innocents. want proof? http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/17/unrwa-investigating-20-rockets-empty-gaza-school-palestinian israel provides adequate notice that they are bombing. flyers are distributed to those in the target area, they get roof taps (small non-explosive bombs on the roof to alert those in the building). the soldiers have even gone to the extent of PHYSICALLY going to civilians and telling them to evacuate.
israel's motivation is NOT to kill. but the fatalities cannot be helped when their enemy is hiding behind the lives of innocents.
