Many people in the snake community have said how much they would love to have a lobby and it would be a great addition to the site. Battle Snakes is by far the most popular mini game on the site and because admin has begun building a ranked battle snakes system it's the perfect time to try and push this idea forward.
With a Battle Snakes lobby we would be able to have additional versions of the game along with ranked and competitive Battle Snakes.
Additional versions of the game could include having the "rat" as a game option, walls that move across the screen you have to dodge, or some things that admin has already suggested like being able to draw custom maps before starting up games and bombs that kill you if you pass over.
Ranked battle snake games wouldn't start flooding sandbox or games and more would be able to be done in keeping track of everything if it had it's own place on the site. Along with this we would be able to run competitive rounds and be able to award the top people with rings similar to main lobbies trophies, as suggested by LIoyd.
when snakes lobby gets made and needs mods... im not saying you should consider the very first battle snakes tourney of 32 people ever (http://challonge.com/battlesnaketourneyone) but i'm also not saying you shouldn't consider it
You are a truly awful owner of a sad lobby. You do not care for Games lobby. You banned me, one of the most active people in the Games lobby, for no reason. This is very sad and shows that you do not care for the future of Games lobby.
You should really give up the lobby to someone who cares such as myself.
firstly, games lobby is fine as it is. a wonderful and beautiflul place full of great people.
secondly, the day i give up games lobby is the day i die.
thirdly, if battlesnakes is going to continue to grow and branch out into ranked, competitive and even different game modes it definitely deserves it own stickied lobby with a dedicated community. a much better option than effectively turning gameS lobby into just battlwsnake lobby featuring other games. We should encourage battlesnake's growth because clearly the people demand it and limiting it to games lobby will not do that, with its own stickied lobby and ranked/competitive games we could see it flourish and become something great
As games lobby mod, I won't hesitate to dropkick you off the roof of the Trump Tower. Same goes for anyone who votes to take over games

Drawing custom maps would be amazing, just have a grid where we can add walls / other obstacles such as teleporters, moving walls, unlimited rats, etc..
For ranked there could even be ranked maps or something
If it does become a lobby, it would have to be one of the ones on the sidebar otherwise it would probably get low traffic

yes do it it's so tiring seeing the sandbox lobby spammed with battlesnakes when games lobby is like ONE tab away
Well, if anything I think keeping it in sandbox is probably the option that makes the least sense. When snake gets ranked and *if* it gets a competitive mode it would need a bit more room than it has in sandbox.
Plus, I've already seen people already complain about seeing snake games in sandbox so much and they kind of have a point.
I realize that having it's own lobby is a bit ambitious but I don't think it's impossible. Being incorporated into games just becomes a matter of all the people there having their lobby suddenly overcome by a bunch of people who, to them, are a bunch of strangers.
this is a decent point. perhaps adding something like being able to filter games (like you can now for open, in progress and finished games) by their game type? for example, being able to hit the snakes button and it only shows up snakes games, or the mafia button that shows only mafia games.
I see it going one of two ways, battlesnakes lobby is made and people flock to it to play, then it dies down and is forgotten about (like Games Lobby is now).
Or, battlesnakes lobby is made and people flock to it and it becomes like survivor lobby where there's a consistent group that plays and occasionally others play.
We need to figure out how to make it more like the second option and not the first, otherwise it's better to just leave it in sandbox where anybody can join and play. Plus sandbox is usually pretty populated so it's a nice one stop spot for people to play without needing to check an entirely different lobby to see if there are any battlesnake games going on.
still, i think it should be done in games lobby as it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me to open up a brand new lobby that would be getting more traffic than the existing, official lobby dedicated to the minigames. i don't really think there's any expansion on the game itself that is limited by being in games lobby. but that's just me anyway.

It could be good incorporated with games lobby I just figured most of the new people would be going there specifically for battle snakes so it would be cool to be able to display all battle snakes related things.
Having it's own place would allow for a lot more expansion on what the game has since lucid has hinted at adding additional game modes and we'd be able to properly display rankings since there's more to snakes than just wins. The lobby page could keep track of things main lobby's round tab does as modules that include who has most points and things like who has had the longest snake and longest average snake, if possible.
